Anything that requires color accuracy
I looked for help online that would tell me how to correct the color, but I couldn't find anything.
If you're just wanting a monitor for the sake of having a monitor, this definitely works. However, if you do any sort of design, development, graphic design or any other task that needs color quality, I wouldn't recommend this monitor.
I gave it 2 stars, because I don't think this monitor is meant to be great, but it's definitely priced out of its category. I'd recommend a $99.00 price tag for a monitor like this.
This is an IPS panel so the viewing angles are amazing! I can walk into my office and see the screen from any angle with no washed out effect that many TN panels produce at angles that aren't straight on. The difference in color contrast between my old monitor and this new Acer is insane, this monitor produces gorgeous colors and makes photo editing and viewing a treat.
When I first hooked up this monitor to my Windows 10 PC, Windows automatically set the monitor resolution to 2560x1440 but also scaled the size of text and everything to greater than 100%. I think this is automatic on Microsoft's part, but I set the scaling back to 100% to take advantage of the full screen real estate. And trust me, the advantage of WQHD (2560x1440) over HD (1920x1080) is great, giving me more room to have my email client open along with everything else I need to be productive at work.
If you want to upgrade your screen real estate, this monitor is an awesome choice.
I've owned this monitor since June 2016. For about three years, it's served me quite well. It has a bright and crisp picture that's not too hard on the eyes, which is very important to me as my vocation involves staring at audio programs on a computer all day. I love the resolution, and the extra real estate allows me to cram more on my screen at once (I tend to have a lot of windows up simultaneously). It also has a stylish, sleek appearance that allows me to invite people into my studio and feel good about them seeing it. The only downside to the display was a semi-regular flickering when connected to a device through HDMI, but it generally only lasted a few seconds. I can deal with that.
The biggest problem with the monitor is that I no longer have all these great features. The display died on me two months after my warranty expired. The backlight still works fine, but the display has mysteriously stopped displaying. I've tried everything, from swapping out my cables to changing outlets. It is a mystery, and a disappointing one at that. I bought this monitor because Acer is known for its overall quality, but apparently that doesn't extend to all its product lines––I needed something with longevity, and unfortunately this one didn't make the cut.
After three years of ownership, I rate this product two stars. This is because of how nice the product was when it actually worked––that's worth a star. However, when it comes to long-term investments, the G257HU didn't make the cut. Better luck next time, I suppose.

About the monitor, the small bezel is very nice and the matte screen makes it easy to use during the day. Monitor is relatively light, stand is not the sturdiest.
Pros: Looks a lot like my old monitor.
Cons: Slightly taller than older monitor (I’ll live).
Major cons: There is an annoying green hue that is hard to spot. It is really weird because it isn't a total hue that would be noticeable all the time, like on a white background, so the only way I can ever really notice is if I compare it to my older monitor, or look at use my phone as a reference.
The green isn’t nearly as noticeable in the pictures I attached, but it is a lot more noticeable in person. The last picture is my final fix for the solution where I changed the colour temperature setting directly on the monitor to "cool" which applies an overall blue hue. I tried for many hours to mess with the colour scheme to match my older monitor but it is a waste of time for I am not an artsy person. After day 3, I have kinda grown use to the monitor and I am not as upset. After all, it is my secondary monitor and I won’t be doing anything important on it.
I’ve decided to keep it because it still matches my older monitor, but I am going to try to contact ACER for help. I have till Jan 31st 2019 to decide I guess. Wish me luck.
The first picture is the default setting, the next two are after the colour setting "cool" is applied. The original picture should only have shades of blue and white. New monitor on the left, old monitor on the right.
Will update as I go along.
