Very good monitor: good color and brightness
on June 22, 2016
Great monitor. We own a mix of ASUS, HP, and Apple monitors and this compares well with all of them. Brightness and color is very good. No dead pixels or shadows around the edge.
I can't speak to gaming on it, as I use it for graphic design and photography, but it's a very good monitor. Is it on par with a $400 ASUS or Apple? No, but it's also only ~$100. For the money, it's a great.
There are some downsides:
- No HDMI port. Big problem if you're going to use this with a laptop. Many laptops don't have VGA or DVI ports any more.
- It doesn't come with a DVI cable. Many, if not most, video cards don't have a VGA port these days (especially gaming cards). So make sure you have a DVI cable or else you'll be ordering one and the monitor will be useless until you get it.
- There's no instructions for installing the base. It's easy (especially for an IT guy) but if you're not constantly setting up monitors it might be confusing.
Mostly minor issues for sure, but things that may be helpful to know.
The true test is how it holds up over time. So I'll update the review if anything changes (just got it). But right out of the box it's a great monitor.
One note: 1920x1080 is fine, but if I went with anything larger than this (this is 24"), I'd definitely want a higher resolution.
