I got this monitor on accident because MisterMoney-HQ mislabled it.
This was (an open box item) from Walmart, all in the original protective plastic for $105. For the price and the quality of the item I'm keeping it and not complaining.
This model only has a DVI port and a VGA port (DVI created 1999, VGA in the 70's both standard for every video card or motherboard, for a little while) and ships with a VGA cable with a plug in about the size of your cell phones (meaning no giant converter).
Quality: Compared to my wife's 23"(Dell St2320lf) LCD monitor (2012), it looks exactly the same only her's has to have HDMI to look nice. I'll also note that out Visio Blue-ray and LED TV look grainy and high speed action look terrible without HDMI. This Acer on the other hand, looks great, and I can put the extra $30-$50 into buying a better video card or processor for my computer.
Comparisons: When run with the VGA on my HP laptop (Nvidia GT 230M) the clarity of text is diminished by 2%-5%, and Photoshop editing on low resolution pictures isn't good. A 600x400 picture that looked great on my 1366x768 laptop, looses all detail, and high resolution images, look a little off. This will always happen when going from 1366x768 to a 1920x1080 monitor. Do to the higher pixel count things look fuzzy, like if you plugged your TV into your computer. On my wife's AMD 6450 video card the picture is crisp, the same can be said about the integrated graphics on Intels i7 3770. This is only based on first impressions.
Concerns: There are 3 color setting (warm/cool/standard) under the monitor.Read more ›
I like that they are really thin and light, I ended up buying 4 of these for the office.
That annoyed me, but then I started playing around on it and as you'd think 1920x1080 looks gorgeous and I don't notice any ghosting or anything. But what I do notice and its very annoying, to me, as I have an eagle eye for these things. If you look on the right side you can make out a crescent shaped light. This has happened on two of these monitors, I returned them and hoping for a third times a charm situation, I bought another.
In all 3 models, the problem surfaced. And when I look at the monitor from different angles with it off, I can notice ripples in the screen itself. So when the back-light comes through them it presents itself with a faint crescent moon shaped pattern of light on it. I don't think the screen itself is built very well as its the same problem spread across 3 monitors, they start out fine but a few hours later you get this odd occurrence.
I seemed to have lessened it by turning the brightness level all the way down on the monitor itself and at 30% in my Nvidia Control Panel while using the monitors "Graphics" setting. It hasn't gotten rid of it, but I notice it far less.
If It weren't for its shoddily constructed screen I would've given it a 5 star rating, but for the price it's an alright monitor, but I wouldn't recommend it unless its on sale and you can't afford a very big monitor.
[pink hue fix] turn the brightness and contrast down in ati catalyst and your screen will look nice and pretty if your contrast and brightness is to high it will have a pinkish color i have a ati graphic card so it works for me

Just like the one I had from Acer that is a couple years older, but with new input options. Packaged well, easy to setup, nice resolution and color.Published 17 months ago by cdrspock
