*Beautiful 17.3 inch screen! Why would anyone play on a 15 inch when a 17.3 inch is so much more immersive!?
*Laptop is ready to use/play on out of the box. The setup only takes a couple minutes and there isn't much "junk" pre-installed apart from Norton.
*I have been able to play everything on max settings so far without any issues and it seems lightning fast overall.
*Fully customizable RBG keyboard back-lighting
*The Acer "Predator Sense" app is super neat and easy to use. It allows you to monitor and adjust your settings (fan speed, CPU/GPU temp, lighting, overclocking etc.) I haven't had an Acer product before and really like this feature.
*The price. When I purchased this laptop, it was $1,399. Similar products from Acer's competitors are selling their laptops (with these specs) for ~$2,000 or more depending on the brand.
*Everything is top notch on this laptop (so far) except for the speakers. They are located on the bottom of the computer so the sound quality is pretty bad and muffled. For context, my old 2014 ASUS laptop has significantly better speakers which are located above the keyboard (where they probably should be...)
*There IS a little fan noise at all times (even if you are just browsing the internet for example) and it increases quite a bit if you put it into turbo mode or have CoolBoost activated. In an ideal world it would be silent during non-intensive CPU & GPU related activities.
Fortunately, a headset remedies both of these issues.
Lastly, Acer tried to make the chassis a cool design but it actually creates sharp edges (in the bottom left and right corners of the computer) that make it uncomfortable for your wrist to lay on while typing/gaming.
- Good value. For a $1499 on sale laptop, it's a notch or two above all the competitors in terms of price to performance.
- Can run any game on max settings with at least 30 FPS. Being the rtx 2070 model, many games will be bottle-necked by the cpu so many should consider the GTX 1660 TI model. The more GPU intensive games perform well as expected.
Modern Warfare (2019) runs at 100+ fps.
Assassins Creed Odyssey benchmark 60+ FPS max settings.
Rainbow 6 Siege benchmark 170 fps on max settings
-Doesn't really overheat or quite as loud as some other gaming laptops like those from Dell or MSI.
-Turbo/Overclock mode does not seem to work on most games as screen tends to freeze up when turned on during most gaming. When it works it boosts fps by 15-25. Luckily you don't need it for the vast majority of games unless you want the very best fps. Storage is limited so be prepared to spend $100+ on external hard drives.
-Outer box seal/sticker was cut/opened upon delivery. Inner seal for the laptop was intact though.
-Audio is under the laptop, though not really a problem as I use earphones/headphones.
