The touchpad is the only hardware issue. It lacks buttons, with the lower left and right corners serving as the left and right buttons. The problem is that the right and left click and click and hold failure rate is at least 30%. I was able to determine the boundaries of the button areas and marked them, but even hitting these areas dead center is hit or miss. Selecting, cutting and pasting is a challenge. First you have to get the left button area to work to select the text, then you have to get the right button area to work. If you miss with the right click area, you have to start over. Frequently, when left clicking, the pointer drops off to the bottom left corner and fails the task. Best case, expect that using the buttons to select and click will have a max success rate of about 70%. I would not purchase another laptop that did not have actual left and right buttons.
Windows 8 also has issues. Initially, the laptop would spontaneously reboot every day while in use, sometimes several times in a row. I was able to minimize this by turning off auto updates, but it still happens at least once a week. Sleep mode also causes a full reboot instead of a quick wake up, so it is useless, though hibernate works fine. Windows 8 is not ready for prime time.
