Build quality is very good from what I can see and feel. Nothing rattling inside. Feels solid and high-end in the hands like a piece of jewelry. That black and gold looks real classy in person. Some ignorant review on a third party site said that Acer used the "lower-end version of the seventh-generation" i5 processor, but let me set things straight, Acer picked the i5 chip that utilized three times less wattage. This gives us better battery life. There are only 2 models of the 7th gen i5 chips, and i5-7Y74 is the one we have here. It idles at 4.5W and thus produce very little heat, which is conducive to designing a fanless ultrabook like the Swift 7. Acer may be price competitive, but that doesn't mean they hire fools for engineers.
Here is a testament to Acer quality, my Acer Aspire AS7741G-6426 was bought in 2011 and is still going strong now in 2016. After an SSD upgrade, the Aspire boots faster on Win7 than my Win10 2015 SSD desktop tower.
USB-C to USB 3.1 dongles and HDMI adapters were included. No USB-C to Ethernet adapter but most ultrabook users rely on Wifi.
Browsing performance and multitasking is effortless. I had a dozen tabs and 5 task items up. I bought this for college, not gaming, so my expectations were met.
Sound quality is surprisingly good. I had earbuds on and could still hear sound coming from its speaker clearly.
The IPS display is better than my MB Air. The touchpad is responsive and very accurate. Finger gestures worked intuitively. Aside from some easily-removable stickers on the display bezel, nothing bothers me about my purchase.
Edit: If you buy this and the price drops somewhere else, say, Acer store site, your credit card may have a benefit called price protection, screenshot the invoice, the webpage with the new price, and file a claim with credit card. You can get back around $40-$50.
It's very thin, and that's what I was looking for. Probably could have gone a little thicker for extra features such as touch screen and other ports besides just two USB Cs - but that's where things are heading anyway right?
That's why no five stars. But overall, I'm happy. It looks quite good.

No touch screen? No backlit keyboard? Only i5 instead of i7 processor? And costs over a grand? !!!! You must be kidding, Acer! My Acer Aspire S7 from three years ago has all of those ... plus EVERYTHING else this Swift has. And cost $995 here, from Amazon, 3 yrs ago. Sounds like regression to me.
Anyone who know anything about computers should know that a laptop that is under 10mm thick is not going to be a powerhouse. It's just not possible with current tech and heat constraints. So if you're trying to use this thing for playing AAA game titles or edit 4k video, you're gonna have a bad time.
If you're a more casual laptop user like me, this device is outstanding. It has handled all of my tasks with ease thus far. Web browsing, Youtube, Word processing, and light gaming work just fine. The screen can get quite bright and the colors are accurate. The battery life runs between 6-8 hours depending on my usage and brightness. The keyboard feels better than the butterfly switches on the MacBook. The travel isn't great, but it is sufficient. The trackpad is huge! Very wide profile allows for lots of freedom when using it. Palm rejection has worked just fine. The webcam is okay. Good luck finding a great webcam on any laptop today.
Now, this laptop isn't perfect. I do have a few gripes.
First, no backlit keyboard. Not a dealbreaker, but it is a nice feature to have. Next, there is an intel graphics setting that is on by default that changes the screen brightness depending on the content of the screen. (think dynamic brightness on TVs) It's super annoying, but thankfully can be toggled off in the intel graphics settings. And lastly, the LED lights on the body right under the screen are bright as the sun and might bug some people in the dark. I have not found a way to turn them off in the software.
Overall a great device though. It's a very good looking device that turns heads in public. People can't believe how thin it is. I would recommend this laptop to anyone not using it for very intensive tasks.
