The h was a prostitute and drug-user, then an MC club whore and drug-user, yet all members of the club love her enough to risk their own lives for her. She's somehow clean and sober for 99% of the book because she "wasn't an addict". The other women in the club are described as hating her at one point, but shortly thereafter are at her side after tragic events, as if they're all close.
The H used to be in a band and told the h he was the guitarist. That turns out to be untrue and everyone thinks it's funny because she doesn't know...why? What is the point of that little twist? He was also apparently married at some point, to a woman that was killed for causing some sort of trouble with the MC; that's all the info we get on that... again, why? He has some big blow out with the MC president that is mostly glossed over, but then they're still good enough friends to risk themselves for each other. For some reason, the president owes him for letting him stay at the H's apartment for 7 months, although we don't know why. Or when.
Confusing and incomplete, or else not meant to be read on its own.
Another great start to a new hot series of alpha men and their sexy, classy, kickass lady loves.
Ace and Cherry's story rocked from page 1 until the end. These two characters were so well written. Their friendship, strength, angst and love for each other had me turning the pages as fast as I could without setting my kindle on fire. Cherry's love for Ace was heartbreaking at times because she knew his heart still belonged to another, even though it was never going to happen for Ace. I had to put my kindle down a few times after reading heartwrenching scenes between Ace and Cherry. I wanted to reach through my kindle and smack Ace upside his head! Then, just when I thought it wasn't going to work between them I was pulled back in when Ace got cranky because Cherry left for the holiday weekend to be with her son and dad. He couldn't get rid of the ache in his chest, and he was lost without Cherry being in his bed... Ace's absolute redeeming quality throughout the book was his not sleeping with every skirt from the bar they hung out in whenever he didn't like something that Cherry said, did or didn't do.
The book was wrapped in heartbreak, ugliness, darkness, new revelations, hotness, sexiness, but most importantly, a love story.
I also really enjoyed all of the supporting characters in this book. A.C. Baxtor has an amazing talent for inter-weaving strong friends and family into her books. Both Ace and Cherry were surrounded by people who genuinely cared and loved both of them. Ace's bandmates, Cherry's parents, son and even their friends from Peril MC were important factors in their lives.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a great read. You won't be disappointed!
I won't give away anymore to the book except this book is a book you definately want to read and don't want to miss. It has so much emotion put in it....it's steamy....has some violence...well deserved violence I might add....everytime I get to the end of one of AC's books I am saddened because it's over and I have fallen in love with all of her characters......I can't wait for book 2 in this series!!!!
