The Acoustimeter is a user-friendly accurate RF measurement instrument which provides LED light and LCD text displaying peak, peak hold, and average levels of radio frequency electromagnetic fields, covering the spectrum from TETRA all the way up to and beyond the 5.6 GHz WiFi and WiMax frequencies. It has a digital readout which is sensitive from 0.02 V/m - 6.00 V/m, and True Average power 1 to 100,000 uW/m2 (accuracy +/-6 dB), and also provides sound output enabling you to hear the signal modulation. These features make the instrument the most useful one available to even those with severe electrosensitivity. The Acoustimeter has been designed to enable you to make a quick and informed judgement regarding the level and nature of microwave signals in your environment. It is a broadband instrument that accurately measures the totality of the radiation in the range 200 MHz to about 8000 MHz (8 GHz), which covers the frequencies used by most modern communication systems encountered in our everyday environment. The Acoustimeter was designed using the experience gained from many years of practical RF and microwave measurements. The readings are shown on both an LCD display and two series of graduated LED lights. The LEDs update rapidly, and allow you to quickly gauge the levels in an area and find any hot-spots. The LCD display offers high accuracy with a lower update speed, giving you time to take note of the readings. It also has a speaker (and audio output socket for headphones or to feed to an audio recorder), allowing you to determine, with a small amount of practice, what type of device is creating the levels that are present. The sounds made by different transmitters can change with time, so these are meant as a rough guide only. If you are subject to a number of sources of RF, the sounds may intermingle and be less easily identified. 5 year mfr warranty.

First off this is about as good as it gets as far as detecting just about every conceivable wireless device that is commonly around us these days. If there is one negative I can find about this meter is that it doesn't pick up really fast spikes from devices such as smart meters very well. You can clearly hear every spike but it will only register 25-50% of the time on the display readout. This is not a big deal though unless you want really scientific data on every spike. You will still get a good idea of what average power the Smart Gas/Water/Electric Meter puts out.
What this does better than most any other meter is that it's very sensitive and covers a much larger Microwave frequency range than most others. Some meters are better for Smart Meters but only cover up to 3 Ghz frequency. So they will not detect the 5.8 Ghz phones or Routers that are increasing in popularity. The LED lights also make using this device so simple and if you want more technical info, the display will give you near exact measurements of what it's reading.
Are there meters out there that are better and give better info? Defintely but it will cost you... to the tune of thousands of dollars in most cases. I bought this simply because it's very educational as well as great at showing you what you can't see or hear. Always use it check out areas I haven't been to before to locate Cell Towers and the like. Very Pleased with it having owned it for the past 6 months or so now.
Very sensitive and picks up weak microwave signals from very far away
Picks up a very broad range of microwave signals ranging from 200 Mhz to 8 Ghz and beyond
Informative LCD display that shows exact up-to-date readings
Simple LED displays that show peak of signal strength and average
Very Helpful Audio function that allows to hear what type of signal is being emitted
Battery life is great around 15-20 hours with two rechargeable AA NiMh batteries
Does not always detect really fast microwave emissions from devices such as Smart Meters
Not a Tri-Axis Meter

I can’t do much about next door’s dect phone but thankfully the wi-fi signals from neighbouring properties are in the green zone with a few rooms barely registering at all. I have do have an iPad for work but I have significantly reduced the amount of time of use this and always keep it in airplane mode when not in use.
It is very interesting going round the house and seeing the different measurements. You can’t go wrong with this meter. It has LEDs divided into three sections from amber, green and red. You can also measure the peak reading of each room by switching the meter on and off.
If you want to measure in silence, (when you're out and about) you can put in earphones so the meter doesn’t emit external noise.
EMF Solutions have sound files the meter makes so you can get used to the different sounds.
I have developed an interest in my living environment and am considering buying the
EMFields PF5 Pocket Power Frequency Meter for measuring electric and magnetic fields.
This acoustimeter seems a must have device for every home and workplace nowadays.
