Marti Konstant is a workplace futurist with an agile mindset. She is a career growth analyst, author, speaker, and founder of the Agile Careerist Project™. Her career path includes: artist, designer, brand developer, entrepreneur, technology marketing executive, and investor.

Marti led programs for Samsung Mobile, Apple, Tellabs, Platinum Technology, Clear Communications, and Open Kernel Labs (OK Labs). Her demand generation and market strategies resulted in the acquisition of OK Labs by General Dynamics.

Her approach to fine-tuning her evolving career sparked a research project, workshops, and book, where future of work and career agility are central themes. Her story-driven book, Activate Your Agile Career, is the result of 120 interviews and custom research.

She earned a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois, and a University of Chicago MBA.

Inspiring, Smart, and Fun

Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, sports, technology and YOU! I love this book. It’s a fun and smart approach to your career. Marti is not just writing about this, she is living an agile career. We can feel her pride and love of Chicago and she includes the world in her stories of other people who are agile careerist.

Adapt, change, or get left behind is the main message and what the seven principles teach us in this book. I could not agree more. I started my career as a software engineer writing C code and since then I’ve adapted slowly and constantly been shifting to a very different career that I love.

Each principle includes real life stories and tools to help you. Principle Four is A/B test your career. Meaning constantly check. She gives us fun graphics an A/B easy test and applies it to Susan and Cameron. She tells us to make our agile career more like chess rather than the Game of Thrones. Along the way we learn about Mari as she applied this to her career.

Marti uses her talents to provide graphics that allow us to visualize the concepts. I love the visuals some are very busy. I favor the simpler ones like the Career Brand Process.

It’s inspiring and real. It’s not just for those starting their career anyone at any point can adapt and have an agile career. I’m later in my career and related to Principal Five: Optimize Your Personal Brand. It is a book to read over and over and new gems and inspiration along the way.

I highly recommend giving this as a gift to anyone starting their career!

This book was helpful in sooo many ways!!! Where do I begin- I can't say enough good things about this book.

In 2018 the workplace climate is changing and and changing fast. Marti is invaluable at opening the door to her secrets to successful work relationships, networking, putting your best foot forward and optimizing your personal brand.

I love the idea of creating a "Feedback Squad". Marti says you can be at the top of your game in your field but without asking for feedback from those around you, you can't see how you can take it to the next level. Marti says "You need to be loyal to people, not a company." She goes on to say that she's observed people with strong networks land the contracts and the jobs first. She wish she had known this sooner. This really hit home with me. Its a reminder that your relationships are key not only to your personal life but your professional life as well.

Her advice is applicable and real. I am in a career transition right now and I am putting her words into practice day in, day out. I've already seen a difference in my attitude towards others at work and their attitude back at me. This book has been so very helpful- I can not recommend enough!! I just picked it up for a few of my nieces graduating from college this spring- overall, such an inspiring read!! Thank you Marti- can't wait for your book tour!

I just finished reading "Activate Your Agile Career" by Marti Konstant, MBA. As the spouse of a servicemember, I have experienced many unexpected changes that required me to adapt my view of what my career was, where my journey was going and what to do next. Even outside that background, change did and does occur. Our careers are no longer linear and I am not sure I truly remember a time where they were. We have to be adaptable and open to opportunities. It requires we understand what we bring to the table, what we want to bring to the table, and what we could bring to the table.

This book outlines 7 steps to answer those very questions and to set ourselves up for success in a world of work that involves constant change. I enjoyed the read and have started my "Idea Zone" and looking at pursuing in parallel.

I am in love with this book from Marti Konstant! Not only does Marti explain what an "agile career" is she outlines 7 agile career principles that will really get you thinking. These principles are the framework that will help you better understand how to create the career (and life) that truly works for you -- based on exactly who you are. This book will help you to be able to respond the the constant change that happens in work and in life. Marti brings together the brilliance, wisdom and stories of a wide range of really interesting people. Plus she has included great visuals throughout the book to help explain the concepts and ideas she puts forward. Also there are TONS of super questions you can ask yourself -- to really get you thinking about who you are, what truly is your TRUE north and about the kinds of work that absolutely works for you. This book is great! I'm going to also order the paperback as well because I know I will be highlighting, putting sticky notes in and writing in the margins too -- there's just so much in this book that I appreciate. No matter who you are -- new grad to mid-careerist -- there is something in this book for you!
