(For more information, see www.activeconsciousness.com.)Endorsements for Active Consciousness: “Amy Lansky leads us on an inspiring and thought-provoking romp through a panoply of portals to our higher dimensional selves. She's an entertaining travel guide to the minds of great scientists, mystics, and philosophers as she argues convincingly that we really can bring the improbable futures we want for ourselves into reality. Let her alter your consciousness and take you higher!”—Jane Katra, author of The Heart of the Mind and Miracles of Mind (www.janekatra.org)“This is a delightful book. Well written and intensely packed with interesting information. It made my head spin—in a good way!”—Dean Radin, author of The Conscious Universe and Entangled Minds (www.deanradin.com)“Amy Lansky's new book is an inspiring and far-ranging investigation of contemporary consciousness research. In her program to spare us from the madness around us, she draws on Rudolf Steiner, Gurdjieff, Rupert Sheldrake, Dean Radin, and many others. She is also encouraging us to explore the transformation of our consciousness as a way to increase our peace of mind, happiness, and what the Buddhists call liberation from the wheel of suffering. Who would not want that?”—Russell Targ, author of Limitless Mind: A Guide to Remote Viewing and Transformation of Consciousness (www.espresearch.com)“Though the topic is vast, Amy Lansky has created a work that is accessible and engaging. Using examples from her own life and experiences, she uses the narrative to deftly guide the reader through the worlds of unexplained phenomena, alternative medicine, and meditative practice. Grounded both in science and mystic tradition, her book is an inspiring invitation to explore the portals to higher consciousness for yourself."—Judy Kitt, President, Foundation for Mind-Being Research (www.fmbr.org)

Amy Lansky grew up in a suburb of Buffalo, New York. She graduated from the University of Rochester in 1977 with degrees in mathematics and computer science, and she received her doctorate in computer science from Stanford University in 1983.

After many years working at various Silicon Valley research institutions (including SRI International, NASA Ames Research Center, and three years as a consulting associate professor at Stanford), Lansky made an unusual career move: she became a student, writer and promoter of homeopathic medicine. This was prompted by the miraculous cure of her son's autism with homeopathy. This experience prompted her to write Impossible Cure: The Promise of Homeopathy (http://www.impossiblecure.com), now one of the best-selling introductory books about homeopathy worldwide, with translations into several foreign languages. Lansky is dedicated to helping others -- especially families with autistic children -- discover the curative powers of homeopathy.

Lansky's homeopathic studies have included foundational course work with Misha Norland's School of Homeopathy in Devon, England; completion of the Homeopathic Master Clinician's course with Louis Klein; and studies with Simon Taffler, Sadhna Thakkar, Jan Scholten, and Alize Timmerman. For two years she served as coeditor of The American Homeopath, the journal of the North American Society of Homeopaths.

In December 2003, Lansky joined the board of the National Center for Homeopathy in Alexandria, Virginia and served on the board executive until 2011. She also helped to found and was an executive board member of the California Health Freedom Coalition from 2001-2005. This is the organization that sponsored SB-577, the California health freedom bill that was passed in September 2002. As part of this legislative process, Lansky testified before a California Senate hearing on alternative medicine.

Much of Lansky's current work involves promoting homeopathy through lectures, interviews, and columns, and providing general guidance and referrals to parents through email. She does not, however, treat patients herself. Lansky's monthly radio show on homeopathy can be found on Autism One Radio (aired the third Friday of each month). This show provides an excellent and free short course for those wishing to learn more about homeopathy. It can be found at http://www.autismone.org or via http://www.impossiblecure.com.

www.impossiblecure.com also includes a link to newsletters, the "Cure Stories" database that provides first-person testimonials of other people's experiences with homeopathy, an advice page for parents with autistic children, and pointers to practitioner referrals.

In 2011, Amy Lansky published her second book:

Active Consciousness: Awakening the Power Within (http://www.activeconsciousness.com), now one of the most exciting, far-ranging, and accessible books available on the topic of consciousness, spirituality, meditation, and the evolution of human awareness. It draws upon Lansky's interest in paranormal phenomena, her expertise in alternative medicine, her meditation studies, and even her research experience in artificial intelligence. Comprehensive, yet at the same time accessible and personal, this book invites you to not only learn about these mysterious subjects, but to develop the power of active consciousness for yourself. By including a series of exercises and experiments in meditation and self-inquiry, Active Consciousness provides an experience that helps readers evolve to a new level of awareness.

We live in a time where the fate of the earth itself seems to hang in the balance, and people struggle with widespread feelings of powerlessness. In the past I've wondered, are the many popular books on shaping reality just wish-fulfillment? Amy Lansky has written the most well-grounded, reality-based book on the subject that anyone could ask for, in a style that is a pleasure to read. She makes scientific and philosophical concepts enjoyable and easy for anyone to understand. With a clear, visionary yet scientific approach, she ties together: current theories in physics and mathematics on extra spatial dimensions and the nature of the universe; an overview of high-quality studies of paranormal phenomena; and an overview of common understanding about the nature of reality in various ancient wisdom traditions. She teases out the common links which could begin to illuminate the hidden aspects of our Universe, including the possible existence of a unified field, the "zero-point field" of physics, which she proposes could be the ground of universal consciousness. She then explores the nature of human beings, considering evidence that we ourselves may exist in more than three spatial dimensions, and how higher-dimensional aspects of ourselves could easily affect our 3-dimensional world in ways that seem inexplicable from our limited, 3-D perspective. For me it was a delight to have such weighty subjects explained so clearly, with plenty of helpful analogies.

Ms. Lansky then discusses how, when we rise above the chatter of our daily existence, we can learn to enter a state of deep, active consciousness, in which we are in fact able to shape reality through the loving intentions of our highest selves. And the icing on this wonderful cake: she lays out a program of simple but extremely well-focused meditation exercises through which any reader can train themselves to connect more fully with their higher consciousness, and truly change their own life and help to influence the world around them. I am behind this book 100%. I believe these methods can be used as a tool to help bring about the evolution that many in our world are currently striving for. I'm about to leave home on a 2-month study trip, and I plan to take the exercises with me. Since reading this book and beginning the practices I have already noticed an increase in synchronicities in my life, and an greater sense of being assisted in the life goals on which I'm focusing.

This book has become my guide to developing a meditation practice and exploring higher consciousness ideas and activities. It's practical, well researched and full of insights garnered over many years of personal and professional experiences - she comes at these topics from not only the mystic meditative angles but backs things up with pure science - review the reference section, it's amazing. Over the years I've tried meditation and felt like a failure because my mind kept wandering and yes I've heard from many teachers and friends that that is the exercise - noticing and returning, etc. But I still couldn't get past the feeling of failing to meditate. This book made me realize in a concrete way that the benefit lies in the act of doing, it's not about succeeding or failing but doing. It is an active book, the exercises are refreshing and supportive to starting, expanding and continuing a practice of inquiry into the esoteric realms of the mind. The stories are engagingly relevant and infused with a nuanced enthusiasm that is contagious. I continue to return to this book and I continue to give it away to people in my life who are expressing an interest in exploring consciousness either scientifically or meditatively - I've offered it to experienced mediators and novices alike. One story I like to tell about the power of this book is what happened when I left it with an older Shik man in Ghana who has a 40 year meditation practice. He was complaining to me that his children have not been able to develop their practices, "they don't see the value or importance of meditating". He felt there was nothing he could do to get them to understand, so I offered him "Active Consciousness". He read it immediately and felt very inspired, passed it to his adult children who voraciously read it and soon thereafter began to meditate regularly. If you are interested in expanding your view of the world and your connection to it and all of mankind, here is a thorough account of the multitude of avenues that can assist you on such a journey.

Amy Lansky's book is the most recent addition to my collection of books on the topic of consciousness, its nature and influence. She has done a fine, clear job of presenting a coherent view of how our individual consciousnesses can be part of something greater, and thus able to change the unfolding of reality. Even If you have read books on this topic before, I definitely recommend this one. Lansky has a thoughtful and original discussion of the difference between manifesting something that's already fairly likely to happen, and making something pretty unlikely become reality. As worthwhile as the general theory she presents are the excellent exercises, taken from two of her teachers, to help you shift your consciousness to a state that is both more joyful and more effective. Though they are not all that different from those in other books, they somehow were just right for me, and have added to my competence at calming and focussing my mind. I will be returning to them. Also, as a result of reading this book, I ordered Impossible Cure, her book on homeopathy, written after it had cured one of her sons of autism. I have used homeopathy for years, and this looks like the most fascinating overall look at the topic.

Absolutely loved the book. Even if you are a sworn skeptic, I’d ask you to give this book a read. I have not tried the exercises yet but the book is excellent.

1.0 out of 5 stars Long winded and not very good.

Disappointed due to it being very long winded. What this person takes an entire book to explain, Dr Joseph Murphy takes just a couple of pages to say in ' the power of the subconscious mind.'
