These are great for tamping down a bit of the ambient noise, allowing you to hear and appreciate most of the sounds around you. They react well to sudden loud noises preventing damage to your ears. I used to always wear a pair of these when playing in my band on stage. Even in a small practice room with two guitars and a drummer they worked well to save my hearing. The down side to these is that the inserts themselves are not that comfortable for many hours. Certain gigs we worked six 45 minute sets and by the end of those nights I was really ready to get them out of my ears. I don't think I would recommend these for shooters, whether at a gun range or hunting because they are only rated at 18db. I would not recommend them for motorcycling for the same reason. (I engage in both of these other activities)

Bought these to replace an old set of sonics circa 1980. The old set had very very soft pliable butter soft silicone that did an excellent job of reducing the shock of gunfire. This new set came with stiff hard material that is great at letting at harsh gunfire shock waves through with little attentuarion. The hard stiff baffles are nowhere as pliable and conforming as my 35 year old pair that I am reusing. My 35 year old set is far superior tho this cheap Corporate bean counter copy of what was once an excellent product.

These do a good enough job for the price point. They handle the vibrations that can cause damage. Though I have found that the design does not fit in my ear very well. I can't have them in for much longer than an hour or so.

The frequencies that these earplugs block and/or let in are all over the place, and can be tricky at times. When our band practices in a basement, I'll hear about half of the range of the electric guitar, but it will let in the harmonics. I'll think that someone is hitting a wrong note, but It'll just be the harmonics that I can hear loud and clear while I completely miss other notes from the lead guitar.

They work. They stay in (even when I'm jumping around at Zumba). But -- and this is very important -- they don't block so much that I can't hear what I'm doing.

I find these are particularly useful when I'm playing violin. My left ear just gets blasted by the violin. I put one in on that side, leave the other ear free and the balance is much better (not to mention that it's no longer painful).

Also very useful for when the sound people are setting up microphones and there's liable to be painful and damaging feedback.

I don't think they're quite enough if you're going to be sitting in front of enthusiastic brass, though. I can sit IN the trombone section and have these be useful, but if trumpets or baritones get placed behind us I really need something more along the lines of what people on rider mowers use.

These ear plugs work great for the value. They are like a pair I purchased years ago and have used a lot, but I finally lost one of them. I believe they are the best "calibrated" devices for the money and they are unobtrusive unlike larger devices or over-the-ear devices. They allow for normal sounds to be heard reasonably while "shutting down" when something loud hits your ear. There is one downside to these and that is because they tend to make the ear canal a little sore after extended use because they are somewhat firm. I just wore these on an hour flight, followed by a two and one half hour connecting flight and they were great, but my ear canals were a little sore afterward. The soreness is gone in a day. I also use these for impromptu shooting sessions, or anytime I am around loud noises on a short-term basis. You can throw a pair in your pocket or travel bag, and they are always there when you need them, unlike larger ear muffs, and there are no batteries to go dead so they always work. Now that I know they are like the old pair I used to have, I am going to order more.

The best ear plugs on the market for playing music in the jam room. They don't take so much sound away that you lose the music, they just remove the harshness. I do 2 hour jam sessions with a full band with loud amps and drums and my ears never ring after practice. Practice also sounds better than ever before. Also the size of these is so much better than all others trying to be like these. Most ear plugs are very wide and they have sharp pointy things hanging off. Why? These are medium soft silicon and can be worn for hours without irritation. Well done!

I bought these for my brother and I to wear at the Rockzilla Tour show. Not only are the flanges MUCH larger than most regular flange type ear plugs, the filter on these is also much larger than other earplugs like this. Not only did they not allow for hearing conversation, the music audio was muddled/distorted by these to the point that we just abandoned them in order to actually hear the music correctly.

My sons and I hunt waterfowl. When we are all in the blind it gets ear ringing loud after the first volley. These suppress most of that noise. Electronic muffs block my own duck calls making it hard to call. The muff mics have terrible wind noise. These have none. These are small, I can still hear my calling and they still allow me to hear quiet sounds like far off goose calls or the whistle of passing wings. Put a little spit of a touch of vasoline on the ear part and they are comfortable enough to wear all day, much better than muffs or foam plugs. We attached the storage box to our call lanyards so we don't forget them. They let enough quiet sounds through to wear deer hunting too.
