Top customer reviews
The one drawback for me is that it is very bright. I think my neighbors might be able to see the red glow. The brightness is fine when I'm sleeping well. On days when I'm not as quick to pass out or having a light sleep night, it is slightly bothersome. Mostly, though, it is just something we joke about. Mine doesn't have the blinking "seconds counter" that has been mentioned in reviews and is also talked about in the manual, so I either got really lucky or they have removed that "feature". Really bright and blinking would be intolerable.
If you need a clock with clear, giant numbers, this is a fine option.
The clock which I received in December 2014 has a colon which is always on -- NO FLASHING. Perhaps they had too many complaints and fixed it.
Time/Date adjustment uses a procedure which is standard for most of my digital clocks: Hold [TIME SET] until something starts flashing; use [+] or [-] to adjust that number; press [TIME SET] to move on to the next number; and so on. It's all in the instruction sheet.
Although there is no provision for setting seconds directly, on my clock setting the minute resets seconds to ZERO. So about 15 seconds before the minute, I go into TIME SET mode, press [TIME SET] again to select minutes, and press [+] or [-] to set the minute correctly. Exactly on the minute, I press [+] to advance to the new minute at zero seconds. Then either press [TIME SET] four times to finish, or wait ten seconds for the clock to drop out of TIME SET mode. None of this is in the instruction sheet, but some other digital clocks do the same, so it was worth trying.
The display is exceptionally bright. It should be readable in a room flooded with sunshine. Next to the TV it is distracting, even during the day. I tried a "Dim It" light dimming sheet, but that made the display too dark (probably good for a bedroom). My solution was to cut a piece from a dark blue transparent report cover (the type with a long plastic clip which slides onto the binding edge). The resulting brightness is good in both daylight and low lighting. One or two layers of green or gray might work too -- any color which blocks some red.
You could tape the plastic sheet to the front of the clock, but I found that installing it behind the faceplate is easy (with the clock unplugged!). The faceplate is held on by four small screws in the back corners. It holds the SNOOZE button in place, but nothing else can fall out. The back of the faceplate has a 6.1 x 2.2 inch recess which can hold the sheet without adhesive. Of course opening the clock can void the warranty.
One star off for not having a brightness control. I have not used the alarm, and have not been through a DST change.

Nice if it would have a dimmer switch...maybe it does and I haven't discovered it yet.
