Regional weather forecasts from sources like the TV news or weather websites rely on data collected at places such as airports, which can be miles away from your home. AcuRite weather forecast products rely on sensors that collect organic data right in your back yard. AcuRite's sensor-based weather station tracks specific sets of weather related variables, including changes in temperature, humidity and barometric pressure to generate a forecast with pinpoint accuracy, personalized for your location. The sensor is wireless and simple to install.

Top Customer Reviews
The base station screen is large and as easy to read as a tablet computer.
The operational controls are smartly laid out and easy to use.
Temperature and humidity readings seem accurate based on comparison to other weather instruments I have.
AcuRite says it takes a couple of weeks of learning for the unit to improve the accuracy of the weather forecasts for my area. But, even after only a day of use, its forecast agreed with other weather stations I own.
One thing I found novel: The weather icon for partly cloudy skies during the evening is a moon and stars – which means it will be dark tonight.
CONS: The screen must be viewed by looking down on it (see photos). If the screen is above your eye level, you will not be able to see the numbers. This means that the station was meant to be used on a desk. I initially place mine on a book shelf in my living room – but, even standing, my wife (who is shorter than I am) couldn’t read the numbers because she had to look up to the display.
Forget wall mounting, that’s a joke. First, it must be mounted at waist level so you’re always looking down at the display – otherwise, you won’t see anything. Second, the AC power cord has a right angle plug that pushes the unit away from the wall so it can never be flush against the wall.
I'd have to say one the parts that I like the most is being able to switch between barometric pressure, temperature, and relative humidity on the graph (the green panel). I'm not a big fan of the consoles that have everything packed into a small display area.
- Looks great; My friends say it looks like a tablet (LOL)
- Slim design takes up very little space on my desk. Feels pretty solid.
- Everything on the display seems to be in just the right spot.
- The forecast feature is nice. It gives you a pretty good idea of what the weather will be like throughout the day.
- I found that the backlight is pretty bright even on the dimmest setting. This may be more of a problem for someone placing it next to their bed (at night).
- Sensor needs a lot of shade. I had it hanging off my porch and was getting some very high temp readings. After I found a spot in the shade, readings seem right on.
For the money, you can't go wrong. You're not going to get wind or rain calculations unless you spend more, but this unit will give you (in my opinion) the most important info.
We are happy to hear that you are pleased with your weather station. You are correct that the sensor does need to be placed in a well shaded area in order to get proper temperature readings. I have used the La Crosse systems with good results, but when an older version finally broke I decided to try this unit. The colors are bright and easy to read, the unit has some wonderful features such as 24 hour high and low display, low battery warning, remote sensor strength, and immediate date and time set. It does not connect to the government atomic clock, but it does not need to as it has a factory set battery back-up and automatic DST adjustment for spring and fall.
The display must be plugged in, but also has a (separate) battery back up with a button to push during a power outage to display the screen. The time back up has a long life replaceable factory installed battery similar to those used in computers, and the display back-up batteries are three AAs (not included)
