My husband and I bought the Acuforce 7.0 Massage Weighted Tool a few years back when a physical therapist he was seeing for hip pain recommended it to him. He and I have given each other therapeutic massages on a portable massage table for many years, and prior to purchasing this device I had trouble doing effective trigger point therapy on his back. Trigger point therapy involves pressing very firmly on sore muscle spots which are the epicenter of radiating pain, and the only way I could come close to pressing hard enough to suit my husband was to use my elbow. But since I have back issues myself, hunching over to do an elbow press often compromised my own back situation. Fortunately, once we got this handy device that problem was solved. I simply locate a trigger point, set the point of the device on it, and the device's own weight provides sufficient pressure to cause the tensed muscle to ease its spasm. All I have to do is hold the Acuforce in place, which is easy to do.

This device also has two protruding "collars" in its middle (see the pictures I uploaded). When placed on the spine, they fit it perfectly, and you can roll it from the neck down the whole length of the spine and give a very effective massage to an area that is frequently tender but hard for a lay person to massage firmly enough. Prior to having this device, doing that sort of massage was another problem for me. I either had to use my elbows--with the same problems I described above--or I had to press very firmly with my thumbs down the whole length of the spine, which would often cause the muscles in my hands to painfully spasm.

It is really nice for deep tissue and trigger point therapy, I would not recommend to use it on your own upper back as it is quite heavy and you can hurt yourself dropping it accidentally, ask someone else to do it for you, it is. Awesome thumb and elbow saver for work on the lower back, it was delivered very fast, too and I live in Hawaii. My only concern is the smell but I am giving it time to air a little bit.

Love this item! It very heavy and if you plan to use it on your back, you definitely will need somebody to do that for you but doing a deep tissue massage or acupressure is awesome! If nothing else works, this is a good exercise weight for the arms!

I am an LMT, in practice for over 20 years, and I find this to be a very helpful tool, be it for self-massage or for working on clients. 7 lbs is just the right amount of weight. It IS produced in the US, yes? I've given it only 4 stars because 1) I find it over-priced. 2) I do mind its strong, industrial smell, which doesn't seem to fade and transfers to one's hands.

This one will save your hands for certain. The weight of it truly allows you to use no force of your own. It also works fantastically well as a self help/self treatment tool for your hands, forearm musculature, and pectoral region. Well worth it.

I use if for deep pressure on my leg/gluteal muscles that are tight. I also use it on my claves. Even rolling it across tight muscles the 2 round circular parts feel great and seems to release a lot of tightness. You can't use it on your back by yourself but I can get enough use out of it to make it well worth the money. Great tool for body muscular pain. Feels like a massage, that you can make superficial or deep massage whatever you want. Even better if you have someone willing to run it across your back.
