Is your dog barking excessively, whining and hiding? These behaviors are likely caused by fear and anxiety. ADAPTIL is a clinically proven, drug-free solution that helps your dog feel calmer. ADAPTIL Calm On-The-Go Collar provides “comforting messages” (dog appeasing pheromones) that helps dogs feel calm and relaxed in situations like loud noises (thunderstorms and fireworks), staying alone, traveling or other fearful situations. These odorless messages are only perceived by dogs and provide a strong signal of security and comfort. Cats and people are not affected. Large ADAPTIL collar is for dogs of all ages, weighing 36-110 lbs and should be used continuously for at least 1 month. Collar should be removed during grooming and bathing.

Solution: I was desperate, and would have bought anything at any price. I tried the DAP collar for small dogs. Read the reviews carefully, concluded that it worked -- IF it worked -- after ten days, two weeks, a month. . . Put it on her. That night we got the double whammy: Fourth of July AND major thunderstorms following in the wee hours of the morning.
At four a.m., after watching her sleep through the fireworks, I sat in the bathroom (her favorite place to cower during the storms) and watched incredulously as she played with my bare toes, her tail wagging -- and thunder boomed steadily outside. I am stunned, grateful, a devoted customer FOREVER.
Initially, the collar worked so well and he was so mellow, I got freaked out about not being home with him while wearing it. We'd had scary results with meds in the past that left him stumbling around like a drunk sailor. I put the collar back on in the evening, so I could keep an eye on him. The transformation has been astounding!
He can settle himself easily, enjoys a couple of the Through a Dog's Ear album's. He doesn't wig out in the car so much, even lays down peacefully. Used correctly, this is like doggy klonopin.
Even doggy daycare and our walking group can tell a big difference in his sociability and staying closer to the group. He was even playing with me the other evening and doesn't demand I sit on the couch with him.
I'm so hopeful these steps will help him live a more fulfilling life!
(note : still always have company in the bathroom, lol)
