"Ava and Eli's story is so unbelievably sweet. They definitely have their struggles but at the core is nothing but pure love and adoration. It's as if they are both alone in the world in their own way and have found something in each other. In my eyes, Eli has more than redeemed himself but this cliffhanger is killing me! I can't wait for the next book in this series!" - Tristina B., Goodreads

Wow. The push and pull from these two was enormous. On the one hand you have Ava, the good girl who feels a bit slighted being the 'forgotten' Callahan at times. Never feeling as if she has made any kind of mark in the world so far. And then pairing her with Eli, the brooding quarterback from the rival high school, who simply doesn't seem to give a feck about anyone or anything. Except his mission to beat Jake Callahan's team at homecoming. Or perhaps his Princess Ava, whom he can't get out of his mind. Meeting secretly after their first introduction over the summer, Eli and Ava embark on a secret affair, one in which they both can be more than the world sees and finds a rare strength and purpose with the other. It's actually quite beautiful to get to see those rare moments when all masks are discarded and it's just a boy and girl and the affection they simply have for the other.
Never easy and maybe that's because Eli pushes Jake's buttons nonstop and his penchant for flying off the handle at a moment's notice isn't something Ava ever appreciates, I'm still wondering just how far this relationship can go. Murphy doesn't hold back when it comes to these two, with Eli the broken boy behind the bravado finding ways in which to ruin any sort of happy he might actually find in his life. Not to mention Ava's inexperience with matters of the heart and her struggles to try and stop listening to the rumors the mean girls continue to promote.
It's all one big explosion of feelings and secrets and the fear that what Eli and Ava are trying so hard to hold onto just may be for naught. I'm still reeling at the ending and am a bit miffed at my Jake and even at Drew a bit. Fable is always a stand-out with her kind and caring nature and I can only hope she continues to be the voice of reason for her beleaguered daughter.
I'll say it again if you don't already know: Monica Murphy writes about the Callahans like it's second nature to her. With each new book, my affection for this family and their heartbreak, triumphs and doubts becomes stronger and stronger. Truly enjoying getting to know Ava as the next Callahan in line to get their tale told. And then you add in the beautifully anguished boy that is Eli Bennett and you've got what is the start of what could be the most impassioned love story of all.
Please know that book 2 and the conclusion to Eli and Ava's romance should be here next month and that makes this girl very happy. It seems this story took on a life of its own and Murphy just couldn't allow it to be told any other way. I'm glad Eli and Ava will have the chance to tell about their affair of the heart in their own complicated way. I look forward to what will happen next and give Addicted to Him a huge 5 stars!
Their journey to becoming a couple is not an easy one. There was so much push and pull with these two at times I felt like I got whiplash. Ava had a lot of choices to make before committing to Eli. For one, he is her brother’s nemesis and two, he is the quarterback for the rival school who likes to talk a big game via social media. Being with him would make her world implode. Their journey is what made this an intriguing story. I had to know how they got from A to B. What were the catalyst that made them letting down their walls. I loved every minute of this book.
I love the angst of young love, and the over the top happenings of high school. If you’re looking for a book like that, with romance and drama, then you will LOVE Addicted to Him. Just gird your loins for the ending people, there’s more to come.

For me, I loved this because I’ve never related to a book more.
Eli, the ass, is my ex. My ex - he who shall not be named - was a footballer on my dad’s team. He who shall remain nameless is still, to this day, despite his arrogant, jackass, sometimes misogynistic ways, the one who got away.
I honestly cannot wait for part 2.
Great work, MM.
