Addicted To You is a story I thoroughly enjoyed, it provided laugh out loud moments along with scenes that provoked significant emotion.
5 Bookies - Book Lovers Inc.
As much a story about recovering from grief and self-discovery as it is about the unquenchable desire between Katie and Rill, ADDICTED TO YOU has a well-rounded plot, plenty of steamy sex scenes, and a complicated romance between fascinating characters.

From the Author
Addicted to You is the first in a new series of very sexy romances I'm writing for Berkley Heat. (If you've read my books under Beth Kery, the content is very similar). The One Night of Passion series involves characters tied by family and friendship. Each couple has their own unique romance, but with the common theme of it starting with one wild, impulsive night of passion. The relationship might start with doubt and regret, but intense passion will always guide the way to love ever after.

Of course, you eventually learn that Rill Pierce, big time Hollywood producer, has snuck away to Vulture’s Canyon, Illinois to wallow in his own self loathing after his wife, Eden, dies. Katie Hughes, a tax attorney, was Eden’s best friend and the little sister of Rill’s best friend – Everett Hughes, a big time hollywood actor. After eighteen months of Rill’s seclusion from the world, Katie decides it’s enough and goes to him. Rill can be surly. and brusque. But he’s built up quite a wall around his heart that needs to be broken through – but Katie is up for the challenge.
I loved this story. Not only is the sex hot (let me just say that there’s woods and an outdoor swing) but the characters are well written and you begin rooting for Rill almost immediately. Well, at least I began rooting for him. I love seeing a strong man work through his demons to find light – and I also love hot men who can chop wood and who like to hike. So really, this book hit all of my hot buttons.
Rill was a famous Hollywood writer director. His wife died in a car accident 18 months ago. He took off with no destination in mind and ended up in a small town in southern Illinois. He's been living there as a recluse, not working, and drunk most of the time. Katie and her brother were best friends with Rill for many years. Katie was a tax attorney in Los Angeles. She left her job to visit Rill to help him. She's been in love with him for years but he never knew it. When she first arrives, he is drunk and has sex with her without really knowing what he is doing. The next day he doesn't remember it. He's sexually attracted to Katie but doesn't act on it because he thinks he is a degenerate lecher sexually - like his mother. But with Katie's presence he stops drinking and eats better.
This author is really good at writing long sex scenes without being boring. I was surprised with that since I've recently read some other authors who had me skimming some sex scenes. So that is probably the strongest positive about this book. It feels like an Ellora's Cave book with the explicit sex. There is spanking, mild bondage, and rear door activity. At times I was shaking my head thinking "these guys are crazy." Rill wants her, doesn't want to want her, thinks he's a degenerate, insults her, hurts her feelings and is kind of stupid about it. This is one of those "character feels one way but acts another way." I normally don't like that if used as a main source of conflict. But in this case it didn't bother me because I just found him to be "crazy and illogical." Katie's character loves him, wants him, is willing to take whatever abuse he dishes out, and plans to keep staying with him.
Later in the story there was some "poor communication" between the couple (creating conflict) which wasn't as interesting as I would have liked. Some side stories include Katie accidentally injures a mentally challenged man and helps him with his physical therapy. A resort/casino developer is attracted to Katie. Rill has questions about his former wife and his mother.
Story length: 341 pages. Swearing language: strong, including religious swear words. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: 14. Estimated number of sex scene pages: 87. Setting: current day mostly Vulture's Canyon, Illinois, with some in Malacnoic, Ireland. Copyright: 2011. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.
