My classes have read this set for many years now. They become heavily invested in the characters which are developed with such depth. The historical significance is something I want my student's to know about since I teach in a Title 1 school with a demographic where 90% are impoverished. The children that come back to visit years later, still remember the books and how very enjoyable they were. Thank God for Donor's Choose. I was able to obtain 10 sets for my 20 children to share. Now I need more sets because I will teach 26 this year. Donor's Choose is a life saving funding website for teachers in Title 1 Schools. If you don't know about this site, please check it out. The funding from this organization has changed the lives of the many children I have taught over the years with countless dollars donated for various items we needed.

I have three girls who love American Girl Dolls. We have read all the series. I found this series to be spot on for the time. At first I was a bit taken by details - but it was nice to explain to my girls what it was really like. The series does a excellent job telling the story of slavery from the eyes of Addy. I can imagine it must have been much more terrifying. I also got out some maps of the underground railroad - this helped them identify with the lengths Addy and her family went through for Freedom! I put this in my top three of the series with Kit and Kirtsten series. Extremly pertinent and relavant to topics today and the history of the good ole USA!

Received the product three (3) days ahead of estimated delivery date which was absolutely perfect since this was a Christmas gift. The product was exactly as it was stated in the description.

Perfection.

I have read many of the American Girl series of books as a teacher. This is one of my favorite stories because it helps the reader put the issues of slavery and freedom in perspective. My little neighbor and I read Book One together. She wanted to know what happens to Addy, so I purchased the boxed set. I would highly recommend doing that from the start because all the books have important messages about life, and finishing one book leads to more questions. I wish AG had been around when I was a young reader, but I'm thrilled I can now share the stories with my students, family, and friends. Even the boys in my class were interested once we got past the "girl book" issue.

I am reading this series to my daughter and it is all I can do to space it out over time. This is a series which I could sit down and read in one sitting. What a great way to introduce our daughters to strong women and also provide a history lesson. I wish I had this as a kid!

This was my daughter's first American Girl book and she loved it. She read the whole series in less than a week. I read it too, so I could ask her questions. Based on her knowledge of life she was able to communicate her understanding of the story. She asked lots of question to help formulate a better understanding of Addy's life story. Her excitement mad me excited about helping reuniting Addy's family. My daughter told me she like the books because Addy saved and day and she did things to help her family.

I've been reading this series to my first grade class for years. They would beg me to read just one more chapter. There have been many mothers tell me that their sons want to own these books. Now I've purchased a set for my eight year old granddaughter. They are so well written and engaging.

My nine year old daughter came home from school with one of these books, and she couldn't put it down! Before this, she never showed interest in reading. After I saw how in love she was with the book, I had to order the series for her. She was so excited when I gave the collection to her and has completed the entire collection in record time! I am so happy she finally found something she is interested in reading. She is always walking around with one of these books in her hand.
Thank you so much for a wonderful collection.
