Adela is a young woman bourne I believe at the wrong time. Her family was from the wrong era in my opinion. They are very forward thinking for their time. Anyway a woman of privilege who believes everyone is equal and one who is destined to achieve something great in life. Or so the gypsies say. They believe this so much they give her a magical necklace that will keep her from harm until she completes her destiny on earth.
She is pursued by a vampire or let me rephrase he hates her but is drawn to her and is trying to take down her village. Her dad is turning his land over to her and this doesn’t go over well in fact the vampire is wanting her dead but instead will have her suffer.
She suffers for sure too. Now left on her own and in a dungeon she is wondering what to do next. All alone against a cruel man to try to save her people from misery she is in a battle for survival.
the way it ends though is conflicting to me. I am not quite sure how it will play out. She is a strong willed young woman who has lost everyone she loves and yet she has one more tragic event but this event can help her. I am not sure how. Also where is her guardian? Why is he not there? Will she be able to accomplish all she wants now that she is not who she was? The book is a wonderful suspense that will leaves you hanging and wanting to know more.
