"Provided the intellectual underpinnings of what has become Trump's most popular campaign riff."
-- Miami Herald "Like other Ann Coulter books, its cutting wit and take-no-prisoners style is backed up by thoroughly researched facts, including facts that most of the media refuse to report."
-- Thomas Sowell, National Review "The phrase 'political book of the year' is a usually an empty compliment, but if the phrase ever described any book, Adios America is it. In its pages, [Donald] Trump found the message that would convulse the Republican primary and upend the dynastic hopes of former-frontrunner Jeb Bush. Perhaps no single writer has had such immediate impact on a presidential election since Harriet Beecher Stowe."
--David Frum, The Atlantic ..".often-inflammatory, usually clever, sometimes laugh-out-loud funny..."
-- The Daily Beast "Coulter's argument--that the media and our politicians conspire to keep information from us about the effects of mass immigration from non-Western countries, and that such immigration will destroy the fabric of the country--is virtually unassailable."

Jaw dropping. Mind-blowing. As a hard left liberal I picked it up for the specific intent of defeating her arguments and refuting her facts. WOW! Was I in for a surprise! NOW I know why the illiberal left is so hysterical over Ann Coulter--- they have been found our and told on! With very few exceptions her arguments survive the strictest scrutiny. Coulter has done her homework! Dislike her all you want but you have to deal with the irrefutable facts.I was mostly shocked and appalled at how the propagandist media and politicians have simply lied and arduously cultivated public ignorance for the purpose of exploiting it. Shocking! Riveting.

... about what has really been happening to this once great nation the past 40 years and counting
Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2018Verified Purchase
I just finished reading this fabulous book filled with facts about what has really been happening to this once great nation the past 40 years and counting! Where is the outrage from those who call themselves, 'feminists'? The left-wingers in the USA and the world should be applauding Ann Coulter! They should be showering her with accolades! So much crime and thievery has been committed against American citizens (so many brutal rapes and murders of women and children) and so much has been kept from our people thanks to an enabling media and the democrat politicians (supported by the same media)! Why? This book should be 'force fed' on every liberal! It should be compulsory reading for 'every school teacher' and 'every college professor'! Every high school student regardless of ethnicity should also be required to read this book and complete a term paper before being issued their diploma! And, yes should they enter a junior college or university it should be compulsory reading there as well! The time for 'sugar coating' these despicable crimes (or not even reporting about them at all) has to come to an end; before it is too late! Thank you Ann, for all your hard work! You are a true patriot! God Bless You, and keep you safe!

ADIOS AMERICA
THE LEFT'S PLAN TO TURN THE COUNTRY INTO A THIRD WORLD HELLHOLE
ANN COULTER
Reviewed by Author Roy Murry
Let me start by saying I am an Independent voter. I read this political book with limited political knowledge or interest in same.
Ms. Coulter's discourse is about where the United States of America is heading because of its immigration's policy (Legal or illegal). She details where we are, what is happening, and where we are going if we stay on the path we are following albeit before the election of Donald J. Trump as President of the USA.
I was overwhelmed by the information she outlined and chronicled using notes of accurate reports. If half of what she says is true, this country has been on the wrong path as far as immigration is a concern. Moreover, if that path continues, America as we have known it will cease to exist.
The prose was somewhat above my political knowledge but was easy to comprehend with a little investigation on my part. The flow moved along smoothly and was enjoyable to read.
I feel this book is important to read if you care to understand Mr. Trump's lauding it and putting some of its principles into his policies while running for President, which was well received.

I used to be a liberal. Then I figured out I had been abused as a kid and the liberal brainwashing was part of my abuse. I picked up Ann Coulter right after and I feel horrible about how long I've been lied to. This is not rocket science. There are millions of illegal immigrants using our resources and clogging our systems, not to mention committing horrible crimes that get swept under the rug in the media as the work of a "local man" (who happens to be from Tijuana and just came here like a week ago). Please do yourself a favor and read this.

Less than a year ago I was a diehard socialist liberal, but my eyes have been opened and Ann has been a huge factor. All of your thoughts on immigration are probably wrong, and you won't understand just how wrong they are and how backwards and corrupt our society and government is until you read this. You will be shocked at how indoctrinated and brainwashed everyone around you is.
Ann uses FACTS and RESEARCH to backup her claims, not just opinions. Ann has an awful reputation among moderates, liberals, and some "conservatives," and I used to be under the impression that she was a windbag with crazy opinions and basically a troll. She is actually incredibly smart, thorough, and witty. You will have a great time reading this book and learn so much.

As a veteran who has fought for this country I am in shock how bad our amazing country has fallen. While I was gone to war our politicians and liberals have lost our country at home. I am heartbroken and sickened by the facts stated in this book. IT IS A MUST READ FOR EVERY AMERICAN!!!! If we wait any longer to turn the tide we will die in the flood. To the author I would like to give you my gratitude for bringing this issue to the forefront backed by factual footnotes. You are a true American!

This is a well researched book with shocking revelations. I had no idea the extent of the chaos taking place in our once great country. Ms.Coulter reveals behind the scenes information one would not find in the main stream media. The illegal immigration crisis poses an even greater threat than just burdening our social welfare system, it threatens the very fabric of what we call The United States - Ms. Coulter will reveal what every American should know.

Exposes the truth about immigration in the US
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 4, 2017Verified Purchase
In Adios America, Ann Coulter exposes the truth about the current immigration situation in the United States, and she does it with razor sharp analysis and wit. Whilst she has an unusual writing style, which is very direct and often sarcastic, this is a well-organised, clearly written and thoroughly researched book and also very entertaining. It would be fair to call it an anti-immigration diatribe, as she not only attacks illegal immigration but also argues that most of the current immigration programs in the US (such as those related to highly-skilled workers and asylum seekers) are being rampantly abused. Her main argument is that the immigration policies of the US are causing and fostering mass immigration into the US from poor countries with values and cultures that are centuries behind the West, particularly in their treatment of women and children, as a result of which America is being transformed and significantly harmed. She makes a strong case (supported by countless examples and over 80 pages of footnotes) that the US mainstream media and political elites (both Democratic and Republican alike) are essentially hiding and distorting the true picture by manipulating news narratives and censoring negative information about illegal and legal immigration and immigrants.

WARNING: definitely NOT for earnest, liberal ‘do-gooders’!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 21, 2018Verified Purchase
Ann Coulter, authoress of this book, is an intellectually fearless American writer and journalist. She sees no contradiction in writing about serious subjects she cares about in a style that is fun, lively and funny. This is one of her best and most important books, and one of the most accessible for British readers who lack detailed knowledge of American politics and culture to fully appreciate some of her other work.
However, if you are an earnest liberal ‘do-gooder’ who cannot cope with having your values questioned or made the subject of humour, the authoress’s unique style is definitely not for you!
For those who can take it, this is an often brilliant, thought provoking, lively, frank and sometimes funny book about the downsides of mass immigration, legal and illegal, from Third World countries to the USA.
Before the words “downsides of immigration from Third World countries” cause some readers to protest:
“But my father/ spouse / cleaner/ whatever is an immigrant from a Third World Country and they are a great person so I am hurt that Ann Coulter is against Third World immigrants!”
or
“How can she be against immigration when the USA was created by immigrants?”
The answer, in both cases, is that she is not.
If you read what she says, Ann does not oppose all immigration from Third World countries. However, she believes:
-Special treatment (e.g. racial preference quotas and making some words 'taboo') originally intended to right the historic wrongs to American blacks of slavery and segregation is now claimed by every minority with a grievance, regardless of whether the USA owes them anything.
-In deciding which would-be immigrants to accept, it is reasonable to take cultural and economic compatibility into account. Despite many national differences, (this is my example not the author's) a Swiss engineering graduate brought up a Christian will probably fit more easily into American society than an illiterate Afghan Muslim opium farmer whose honour requires him to kill his daughters if they have sex before marriage.
-Immigrants should be few enough that they have to mix with mainstream American society sufficiently that they gradually accommodate to its ways and values. If immigrants don’t want to do that, they probably should not be trying to become American citizens in the first place.
If the Afghan farmer from my example above settles in the USA and there are few other Afghans or Muslims living nearby, then he and, even more, his children, will have to learn to fit into American society and its laws and values. They are far less likely to do this if there are so many of them that they form ghettos and mostly shop, socialise, marry, go to school and deal out their own informal community justice within them.
Some of what Ann C says is specific to the USA. Even so, much is very relevant to other developed countries, including Britain, experiencing large-scale immigration from poorer countries.
Examples of other points from this book:
-“America is not a mere landmass- otherwise the Indians would have written the Declaration of independence and put a man on the moon. Its success is due to values and ways of doing things it inherited from Britain and developed, including liberty.”
-Hmong (minority people from South-East Asia) immigrants to California and the upper Mid-West caused a marked increase in gang rapes of girls aged 15 or younger. The majority of the victims are themselves Hmong, but not all. “This would be blindingly obvious, except the media refuse to report anything but good news about immigrants.” [I am reminded of the Clint Eastwood film ‘Gran Torino’, in which a Hmong girl in California says that in her community ‘The girls go to college and the boys go to prison’. ]
-The Los Angeles Times reported a Hmong man in Fresno, California clubbed a puppy to death in front of his home as a shamanistic sacrifice supposed to cure his wife’s diabetes. He claimed he had no alternative as he had already sacrificed a pig and a chicken to no avail. It apparently did not occurr to him to try modern medicine. When an upset neighbour reported this, the head of the local Humane Society [equivalent of our RSPCA] said it was ‘racist’ to object if Hmong in America clubbed puppies to death.
-The H-1B Visa for 'skilled migrants' to work in the USA is advocated by big IT companies as bringing in high-level skills they need. This allows their owners "to strut around like they're Martin Luther King by mentioning the magic word ‘immigration’”. Yet many of them mostly use H-1B Visas to bring in Asians to do basic IT jobs that Americans could do or are already doing, but on lower pay, partly because the H-1B Visa, which ties the right to live in the USA to a specific job, makes it harder to change employers for better pay and conditions. “Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t want immigrants to take his job; he wants them to take his employees’ jobs."
-On the argument that illegal immigrants should be amnestied because it is cruel to make them ‘live in the shadows’:
“Why is it a crisis that illegal aliens are ‘living in the shadows’? …It is not a crisis for Americans that other people who have come here illegally now find it uncomfortable living here and breaking the law. It is supposed to be uncomfortable to break the law…how did these illegal immigrants get into the shadows in the first place? They weren’t kidnapped and dragged across the border. They came here [by choice]. ‘Living in the shadows’ is evidently better than living in Guadalajara, otherwise there’s an easy solution. Living in the shadows doesn’t seem to be much of a crisis even for them.’
-“How are US officials going to investigate claims of gang rape in Nigeria? They don’t; they just grant asylum.”
When I read that last comment I reacted 'How can she be so callous as to say that?!’ Then I thought about it and realised the answer is ‘Because it is true.’
Immigration officials usually cannot know what really happened to someone in a Third World country thousands of miles away and what the risks to them are if they return. Accordingly, there is an ugly choice. Either let in most people who say they are fleeing oppression, some of whose stories are probably bogus, or else forcibly send most of them back, including some whose stories are probably true. Whichever you think the lesser of those evils, Ann Coulter’s brutally frank approach is honest, as politicians are usually not, about this choice.
As she points out, a compassionate asylum system is by its nature most likely to let in immigrants from the most violent, corrupt and misgoverned countries on Earth. If such violence, corruption and misgovernment stem from the culture of those countries, the immigrants will tend to bring it with them to their country of asylum. [I am reminded of Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s book ‘Infidel’, when she describes working as an interpreter in Holland. There was a fight between two schoolboys, one of them Somali. To the Dutch school authorities, it was obvious that because the Somali boy hit first, he was to blame as the aggressor. Yet to the boy’s Somali parents, it was equally obvious that when an argument becomes heated you do not wait for the other guy to hit you but should hit him first, to have the advantage in the expected fight. While there is a ruthless logic to this attitude, it helps to explain why Somalia is more violent, lawless and therefore poorer than Holland, and hence why Somalis want to move to countries like Holland, and not vice versa. However, probably without knowing they are doing it, Somalis may bring to Holland the very attitudes that made their own country so poor and dangerous that they fled it in the first place. And once Dutch boys get tired of losing fights to Somali immigrants, they may think they have to copy their violent aggression, raising the level of violence in their society more generally.]
There are legitimately different opinions on how far importing such problems into our own societies is a price we should pay to help those fleeing war or poverty in undeveloped countries. However if we are to make that choice honestly and sensibly, then we need people like Ms Coulter with the courage to put the side of the case that most liberal/left opinion shouts down or avoids talking about.

Slays the immigration taboo

Import enough people from the 3rd world and they bring the 3rd world with them. By the time people realise what is happening it will be too late: America is finished as a developed country. The white liberal elite live in expensive enclaves thinking they are safe from the urban hell-holes. But ultimately they cannot escape; they’ll be surrounded. Same is happening in UK too. The more threatened the host culture feels the more it doubles-down on multiculturalism and globalisation - the institutional leaders think they can outrun the muggers and rapists. They can't.

A fantastic well researched book . The facts are that before the 1960s migrants to the U.S. Were from evil conservative European nations . These people migrated to the U.S. For freedom , to work hard and have limited gov . After the 1960s , the dems had lovingly changed the immigration laws to transform wonderful poor Africans life by allowing them to migrate . They tend to love big gov , and tribalness and infighting , so have been given a new living home in America , not killing each other , not having chips on their shoulders ,and not voting for gov gov dems of course .
