Love the carrier, but not the buckle

Love the carrier, but not the buckle
I absolutely loved this carrier the moment it arrived. Have used the crap out of it and loved that I can put my baby on my front or on my back without any help from others. However, after only a few months of use, the main waist buckle broke in 2 places and I was no longer able to use it. I thought about returning it and getting a replacement, but any baby carrier is going to have a plastic buckle. So instead, I decided to keep it and replace the buckle with a heavy duty metal one.

I bought this thinking it would be great to carry my 1 month old in, as he was super colicy and the reviews said this was great for smaller babies beggar it adjusted in the pelvic /hip area to sit a small baby. Well my baby is measuring at exacting where he should for his age, and this carrier was too big and bulky for him. He was sufficating and screaming from feeling insecure, despite all the adjustments I tried to make. He is now 3 months and still measuring exactly where he should be for his age in height and weight. This carrier is STILL a bit big for him. I think next month it will work out nicely. So for now I've been using a different carrier that my cousin gave me, and my Moby wrap. He loves the wrap! It's easy to take on and off, he's secure, and the material is breathable so he doesn't overheat. So those are my go to carriers until my lil guy is big enough for this one. It is a great durable carrier. I just feel it's better suited for a baby 4 months and up.

I have a 2 mos old and she’s about 11 lbs 23 inches. The carrier comes up a bit high and so the shoulder strap scratches her face so had to return. However, comfort for me was amazing. Will be purchasing it when my child is about 4 mos old

This is the second one that I’ve purchased. The first one I got was in 2019. My son was almost 10 lbs at birth so I was on a mission to find a carrier that would stay with us as long as I needed to carry him. This carries up to 45 lbs - standard size.
Fits small and tall babies.

Pictured is my baby koala bear. This review is really on his behalf, he LOVES being in the carrier. He loves to be carried and this allows us to carry him around the house and still be hands free. We do have the wrap but koala is solid and heavy. This feels much more secure than the moby, which is great for newborn to a couple months, but our babies are generally heavier and taller than other babies.

This one is much more breathable and the mesh helps if you have a sweaty baby. Koala baby does sweat so this is great for him.

I carried my older son in my first one until he was about 4, and I carried him mostly on my back for the last year using that carrier. Usually for hiking or when we knew we’d be somewhere that either required a lot of walking or if there were hazards and it was best to carry him. I gave Tula#1 to my sister after I had no use for us and it’s well loved by her and her boys.

It’s easy and quick to put on (of course once you’ve properly adjusted it to fit baby), and I always have it with me.

Worth every penny, and our go-to carrier, the one I’d recommend for every parent.

I have a 3 month old and he often doesn’t want to be put down. This is a huge help as I can face him towards me when he wants to nap and snuggle or face him out when he is awake and wants to look around. This thing saved me when I was fresh postpartum but still had to care for my other child. It’s easy to put on and doesn’t loosen up over time which I experienced with cloth carriers. My only complaint is it can be tricky to take off when trying to loosen the shoulder straps but overall I would highly recommend!

Pros:
High quality soft shoulder/side straps, soft waist belt, breathable mesh that's comfortable for baby and you, airholes in detachable sun hood. Adjustable leg width for newborn-3mt, 3mt-9mt, 9mt-4y. High quality material all around that's soft. Pocket storage that fits pocket wallet, phone, and keys. Easy to strap in baby.

Why I like it over my Ergo 360:
My Ergo I wanted to like it but the mesh is so rough no matter which model you buy (360/omni 360/omni breeze) both baby and I had rashes/bruises. For me it was near my armpits and for baby it was on his inner thighs even if he wore pants but it's meant to be breathable so it defeats the purpose. I had to wear thick t shirts which again takes away from it being breathable. The sun hood is suppose to be lightweight but when the sun hits the hood, baby gets so hot. Where baby sits is so uncomfortable because the inner waist belt is hard and doesn't bend. Strapping baby I had to be extra careful since the material all around is slightly rough. No pockets. Sure I could buy the expensive models but they still have the same material.

Cons:
Need to buy lumbar support for $19. Only available on their website. Waist belt adjustment pulls towards back instead of stomach. Sun hood doesn't have a zipper storage.

These are all things I can live with as the overall carrier works for sweaty baby and me plus it's so soft. You could probably buy an infantino carrier but for me, I need cushion, want to ealk around with him for more than 30m, whether om a hike, beach, store. Great buy if you have a big baby; my baby is 20lb 27 in for 5 months so this needs to be comfortable for me since he's growing so fast. I'll buy the lumbar support, I'll tuck the sun hood into the pillow cushion, and I'll adjust the waist belt in reverse for different outfits. My friend loves her Tula and she's had hers for 3 years, 2 babies!

Let me tell ya I was scared being THICK in the middle this carrier wouldn’t fit correctly like others I’ve tried...and would affect how my premie 5 week old 7lb baby on oxygen would NOT fit since I’m 250lbs 5’2... BUT it fits perfectly with room on these adjusters ;)! Most importantly baby boy fits perfectly and safely!! SUPER lightweight and unlike the other carriers this one can be forward facing( when baby has good head n neck control) and comes it a mesh hood for keeping weather off little bean! Of course this item is $$$$ but with all the adjustments options ( snap button or pull adjusters) this will be able to use during the duration from infancy to big toddler from 7-40lbs so years of use!! Buy it parent you won’t regret!! PS Watch some YouTube videos of Tula Explore to see for yourself!!
