This was not a gift, but I don't see why it couldn't be. We purchased it so we could make our fondant perfect for my daughter's wedding cake. We've also made sugar cookies with it. I used a different mat for the cookie dough though so there would not be any issues with cookie cutter lines on this mat. There were mixed feelings among reviewers on the wisdom of cookie-cutting on it, so we played it safe. I do like how the measurements are clearly labeled on each disk, and other helpful measurements on the mat itself.

I had my mom try out 2 brands, a wooden one and this one. She chose this one bc it was stainless steel and came with the free mat.

I knocked of a star bc water can go into the screw hole, so when you hand wash it, make sure to take off the screws on both sides. Other then that, pretty easy to clean.

like the product great idea - pastry mat is great - so is roller but the painted markings on the roller started coming off in black specks in the pastry dough as i was rolling it. Not sure if this paint is toxic but it ant be a good thing. Just be aware of this - solution for me was to get a scrub pad and take most of it off. Unfortunately in doing so , it also dulled , smudged the the shine on the roller. So might be a good idea to research a reputable company for this type of product,

Easy to clean. Don't use it in the oven....just use it for kneading dough. Nothing sticks and helps alot in keeping the mess off of your kitchen counters. It's a tad thin but otherwise it's good. Stainless steel rolling pin works well with the different end attachments so you can evenly roll out whatever uniform thickness you need.

Although I haven't used this rolling pin much yet, it is well made and easy to use. It takes a few minutes to unscrew the sides to adjust the thickness of the dough. Not found to be a big deal. It's sturdy stainless steel, good size & easy to clean. The silicone mat that came with the rolling pin is large, has some handy markers & has many uses. If I find I have any issues with the rolling pin as I use it more I'll add to my review. But I'm happy with my choice.

I just used this for the first time last night to make cream cheese sugar cookies and it is so awesome for getting consistently thick cookies that are the perfect thickness. Anytime I've made the cookies before, I would get uneven bakes because I could never evenly roll them. The cookies yesterday were perfectly golden brown on the bottom. I'm excited to try other recipes where the function of this rolling pin would come in handy.

The different height rings are super easy to swap out, the pin has holes on the edges that makes cleaning a little less convenient, and the pin comes with a silicon mat which was a nice bonus.

Highly recommend this for anyone who regularly bakes items that need an even dough rolled out.
