I've had the photography plan for over six months and I'm very satisfied. But first for the misconception.

If you read various reviews and commentary you will find some people saying that if you end your subscription you lose access to your files. That is just wrong. Here's what does happen:

- If your subscription ends you have 30 days to download, access, and convert any files stored in the Adobe cloud service. But that is all a moot point in my opinion. As a serious photographer you will be using Lightroom (included in your subscription) and storing and managing your photos on your computer or an external hard drive as in my case. So if the cloud were turned off right now I would still have access to my files both for viewing and editing.
- When the subscription ends there is no secret key that Adobe turns to lock you out of your locally stored files. I've researched this extensively and asked Adobe and your files are yours.
- True, if you end your subscription you won't be able to open your files in Photoshop but you can in Lightroom. Although you won't be able to edit in Lightroom you can view and print your final products.
- I ran a test of saving a file from Photoshop in which I had applied Perspective Warp, which is as afar as I know, a feature that is unique to Photoshop and quite complex as far as the software is involved. I was able to open the photo on my Mac in Pixelmator and the image included the warp changes. True, there was only one layer but I could do more editing if I wanted to. I suspect that other photo applications can open the files also.

These are 2 great products and the idea of a subscription and staying updated is great. Considering what you pay for Lightroom and photoshop as a product or an upgrade, this is a great deal. However, between Amazon and Adobe, they seem to have a serious communication problem. I purchased a 12 month subscription through Amazon in November and now in January Adobe is saying it's a 3 month subscription and it's expired (sort of strange that a 3 month subscription expires in only 40 days). If you decide to get this, DO NOT purchase this through amazon, go directly to Adobe. That way Adobe can't point at Amazon saying it's their problem (which is what they are telling me). Now I had to prove to Adobe that I purchased this through Amazon, but now Adobe is saying that they see it's a valid purchase, but now I have to wait 2 to 3 days while it gets reviewed by the proper department. In the meantime, they tell me that I can't use the applications until the issue is resolved

As an IT professional, I consider myself fairly savvy about downloading, maintaining, and troubleshooting applications. I purchased the Photography Plan during the Prime Day promotion, downloaded the installers, and went to work. I am still using my old version of Photoshop CS3, and I was excited to try out all the new bells and whistles.

Two days later, after spending 5+ hours in chat with Adobe Support, I am cancelling my subscription, running every cleaning tool I can find to get rid of all the Adobe folders that have added gigs and gigs of useless crap to my Common Files folders, and doing a system restore back to before I ever started this nightmare.

The applications installed, but with errors. No error messages, but they wouldn't launch, or crashed. They uninstalled, but left so many settings and keys behind, my computer started behaving oddly. Photoshop would crash every time I saved and exited an image file. Adobe support ran three different cleaning tools during my sessions with them, and they still couldn't uninstall and reinstall Photoshop and Lightroom properly. The fact that they were clearly following a script (run tool, set up alternate admin account, disable antivirus and firewall, change permissions on application folders, then give up) didn't help at all. I was told a "system specialist" would contact me, but I have not heard a thing from them after ending the support session. I can't be too hard on them, though, because this software is so poorly written and so badly coded, it's beyond a nightmare to work with. My computer is running sluggishly and many system settings have been changed by the Adobe installs (I'm running Windows 7x64, and my laptop is way over-spec'd for this software). The bloat in my user profile alone is inexcusable.

I was a Creative Cloud subscriber for over a year, using Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Premiere Pro and Lightroom. All was generally OK until I upgraded my Mac Mini to the new Yosemite operating system. At that point, the Adobe "Manager" software stopped functioning, rendering all the CC applications non-functional. I contacted Adobe Support, which is offshore and text-messaging based, very frustrating to use. A support person promptly responded to my initial support request and attempted to help me. He was obviously reading from a script and predictably suggested uninstalling the Adobe Manager software and deleting a couple of Preference files, then reinstalling. I had done that multiple times and rebooted multiple times before even contacting him. He then suggested that I contact Apple Support to resolve my problem with Adobe's software. Seriously? I told him, that no, I would not do this but would instead restore my prior "Mavericks" operating system. He then tried to help some more, including remotely logging into my computer and having me set up a root account for him. He made multiple attempts to uninstall/reinstall the Adobe Manager, then proceded to change permissions on a bunch of files and directories, and checked a bunch of logs, all with no success. After over five exasperating hours texting back and forth with him, he gave up and told me that a "senior support person" would contact me to try to resolve the problem. When I asked him how long it would be before I would hear from the senior support person, he stated that It would be two to three days! Sure enough, after two days, I got a one-way "do not reply" canned support email from the senior support person, suggesting that I uninstall and reinstall ALL the Adobe software. No thank you.Read more ›
