The only "con" I can think of - if you can even call it that - is that I liked the software + lessons so much I found it impossible to not "play" with new functions I learned on my own in a new window during each lesson, which sometimes meant I would mess up the "default" settings for the workspace and I would have to manually figure out what I had put out of place.
It is definitely a bonus that CC allows you to try the software out for 30 days for free, so I definitely recommend purchasing the book and trying out a few lessons (the whole book if you had the time) before subscribing. But I'll warn you, if you love designing, you'll be subscribing :)
The writing is second to none. It is easy to read and for the most part easy to follow. Even though I have only finished the first project I feel very confident that the knowledge gained from reading this book will provide me with the skills needed to tackle almost any project I run into in the future.
But I bought this as a Kindle book. I was able to download all the sample/tutorial files with no problem. But I'm still not a fan of how books are converted for Kindle. The Adobe Classroom in a Book editions are all very nicely produced and graphically well-laid-out. It would be ideal if the Kindle version were simply like a PDF of the original pages. That said, this is not the worst Kindle-ified book out there, and I don't recall having a hard time reading any of the images or graphics, which can be a problem for some Kindle books. The Kindle edition is OK, but if I had to do it over, I'd go for the flammable, dead-tree version just for the better layout.
Some chapters like the one above are very difficult to follow without videos and posting your questions
on ambiguous parts of the book to Adobe Communities and receiving answers could take a long time.
You might like to opt for training videos instead.
