5.0 out of 5 stars A magical adventure with a twist
By Raoul Watson on June 28, 2021
I came close of canceling writing this review. I simply couldn’t find a way to give a snapshot without writing a spoiler. So many have done so but I refused. I read the comic before anyone could have reviewed it since I preordered the Kindle version. I was happy because I was surprised at the unexpected twist of the ending. As an artist I obviously concentrate on the artwork but I have to admit the story did take my imagination to new places. So all I can say is that Adora has all the elements of a great adventure with an unconventional twist. Marc Bernardin’s story takes us in a magical journey. The superb artwork of Ariela Kristantina brings the magical journey to live. She continued to produce quality rather than quantity -evident to many “punitive” complex scenes especially perspectives. Bryan Valenza’s coloring is just awesome. I have a new respect for this unique coloring style which add depth to the otherwise 2D world. The lettering by Bernardo Brice is easy on the eyes and non-intrusive. The radical speech bubbles would redefine comics’ tradition and nomenclature. His bubbles are highly efficient and very non intrusive since he utilizes a bubble tail which has no weight (a simple line black and white). I have no doubt that this method will soon be added to the list of speech bubbles. Bravo to the entire team and I recommend for you to check out Adora.
