I adored this book. Almost. Except that Ms. Blake is an evil writer who put something into the epilogue that makes me want the next book NOW NOW NOW NOW! Although that's not exactly an unusual feeling for me whenever I read her writing. But still. I WANT IT NOOOOOW!

Enough of that though - this book. Adored.

Mitch is one of those frustrating heroes that's all closed up inside emotionally and you just want to kick him, but he has such good reasons for being guarded that you also want to pet him and tell him that everything's going to be okay. On top of that, he's a sexy and demanding Dom that makes you want to drop your panties.

I loved Laurel. She was an exceptionally strong heroine, one who had the guts to walk away when she needed to and - even more important - to stand her ground when the stakes were high. So many books have the hero chasing after the heroine after he messes up, and it's good to see the groveling, but in a relationship not everything can be high drama and "we're over" as soon as there's a fight. Both people have to be willing to fight FOR the relationship when the fight is over, despite their pride, despite their hurt... and Laurel is strong enough to do that and to show Mitch how a relationship SHOULD be. All he has to do is be deserving of that.

There's some danger, some twists and turns, plenty of humor, just a little bit of Ian's delightful relationship advice, and some new characters that have me super curious. Speaking of adoration, I really hope Kai gets his own book or novella eventually (although, like most of her novellas, Adored is more like a short book than a true novella) because listening to him talk about women and relationships... ha!

WOW! Adored is another fantastic addition to the 'Masters and Mercenaries' series. For the first time ever, I actually slammed my e-reader closed and throw it on my bed. I was upset with Mitch Bradford that I went into a ten minute rant calling him every name in the book. Lexi Blake foreshadowed my future rant from the beginning, "You wouldn't think that if you saw how (upset) she gets at fictional characters. The woman yells at her e-reader. She threw it across the room the other day and her only explanation was that someone named Joshua Lake was being a butthead." After I finished my rant, ate some ice cream, I jumped back into the story and cheered on our heroine, Laurel, for being the bigger person. I love when authors compel us into emotional outbursts. Usually I cry or sulk when I'm reading romances. This story took me to the next level.

Laurel Daley is Mitch Bradford's paralegal and also his best friend's sister. They are both mutually attracted to each other, ask Mitch's penis. Mitch however would not claim Laurel He felt "He was too old for her. He was too rough and hard for her. She was a kid starting out and he'd run through all his chances." Mitch had been married twice before and after the divorce he was forced to start over again.

Laurel pursued Mitch all the way to Sanctum (a BDSM club he attend) but it was a bullet flying scare that drove them momentarily together. Things quickly went bad and Laural decided to move on. "There wasn't some soft Mitchell Bradford waiting under the surface. All of that had been spent on his two ex-wives, and all that was left for Laurel was a man who meant it when he said he didn't want another commitment, didn't want to even try to love her.

Fantastic novella. Very well written with well developed characters. I love the clever witty dialogue. I really liked that this book wasn't so heavy on the BDSM, which can become a little repetitive, but focused more on the relationship and the affect that had on the characters. One thing though - does every set of characters have to have anal sex??? I'm waiting for a woman to say - "hell, no, that's an exit not an entrance, get your jollies elsewhere!!" I just can't imagine that every single female character would want to do that and would love it. Okay, maybe that's just me... moving swiftly on... I will definitely read this again. Lexi's writing is seriously good.

Spoiler Ahead This was a good book and I love reading this series. Mitchell Bradford is a man that has given up on love he has been married twice and both of his ex wives cheated on him. Laurel Daley knows what she wants and she wants Mitch Laurel is his paralegal and office manager she has been waiting six months for Mitch and she has had enough. When Kai calls Mitch to tell him that Laurel has been in the sub training program and he has matched her up with a temp Dom Master T aka Tennessee he loses his cool he doesn't want Laurel to be with anyone else. Laurel has had enough and when the two argue after someone tries to shoot her the two have sex without a condom he tells her it was a mistake and she leaves she also quits her job. A few weeks go by and Mitch is upset someone is threating him so he upgrades his security and puts a bodyguard on Laurel. Both Laurel and Mitch have been hurt by their parents who weren't their for them Laurel's mother who was a drug addict in and out of jail was raised by her brother Will and her sister. While Mitch was raised by a mother that man hopped and a father he felt neglected him because he was a product of an affair his father had with his mother plus being hurt by his ex wives he doesn't trust women outside of the subs he plays with at Sanctum. When Laurel is rushed to the hospital everyone gets a surprise and the cat is out of the bag. Laurel also gets a visit from Mitch's little brother a brother that she didn't know that he had and Mitch let's his jealousy show. This was a good book as also Lexi doesn't just give us a book with hot sex scenes there is danger and suspense. This book was well written like all of Lexi's books with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series
