Adrenaline features Malcolm wallace, a top NASCAR driver who likes everything in his life hard, fast and bringing on that rush of adrenaline. At least until he meets Paislie Pruitt and his views on women start to shift. There is just something different about her. Malcolm is acting different than he ever has with a woman and Paislie is opening her heart. But you know the road to happiness is not going to be that smooth for this couple. There are some major bumps along the road that they will need to get through. When Malcolm hits his roadblock he ends up turning to Paislie and bringing her back into his life. Will they find a way to come together to help Malcolm? Will their closeness translate to something deeper?
This book had it all - love, friendships, smokin' hot sex, scenes that will tug on your heartstrings, scenes that will make you just flat out angry - you know, all the elements that keep you glued to the pages. I loved how we could see changes and growth in the characters. Watching Malcolm go from an adrenaline seeking manwhore to a romantic without even realizing it - just fueled my dreams! And Paislie, watching her battle her deep seeded insecurities to forge new relationships was so wonderful to see. And the side characters were ridiculously intriguing! I, of course, immediately went and #1clicked Ignite so I could get Emmit & Adaline's story! And oooh what I wouldn't give to see more from... you will know which 2 people I wanna know more about when you read - but I'm not saying so you can enjoy as I did ;)
I definitely recommend Adrenaline! Though it is the second book in the Speed Series, you can absolutely read it alone. I did and didn't feel lost in the slightest. It was simply put, a fantastic book that will suck you in from the very start.
I received a complimentary copy of Adrenaline in exchange for my honest review.
Although this technically could be read a standalone, I highly HIGHLY recommend reading book 1, Ignite, to provide a little background into Malcolm before racing to read Adrenaline.
Malcolm and Paislie. Not who I thought the book was going to be about, but see...that's the great thing about Kelly. You just never know when she's going to throw a wrench your way. She has a way to make you love and hate characters as if they were standing right in front of you, and she brings the stories to life as if you were living them yourself. I truly love how she ties secondary characters into the story as well. You wouldn't think secondary characters would mean that much, but they're like a pit crew. They're not always front and center, like the drivers, but the story wouldn't work without them, just a driver wouldn't be able to race without his or her pit crew. Especially Emmitt, in this case.
A broken pair of people who help each other heal...in more ways than one. You will laugh, cry, get angry, and fall in love. The story of Malcolm and Paislie is worth the read, whether you're a NASCAR fan like me or not. A good story is a good story...and when it's great like this, you need to get your Adrenaline pumping, engines fired, and race for the checkered flag happy ending.
Honestly. Don't walk, or even run, to pick up this book. RACE TO READ IT! Buckle up, readers...you're in for one heck of a ride!
In this book, we get a closer look at the man we all wanted to know more about in Ignite- Malcolm Wallace. Malcolm is cocky, downright egotistical at times, but damn if you don’t love him. He is sex on a stick and even hotter when flying through that checkered flag. He grabbed my attention immediately when I read Ignite and I wanted more, needed more of this man who I couldn’t resist. I was more than thrilled when I finally got my hands on this book, but man was I surprised when Elliott gave me Paislie.
Yes, folks that’s right. Paislie. If you are a fan of this series, I know you are going “Who the hell is Paislie?” I know I did. But, I will tell you who Paislie is- she is a game changer. Uprooting and changing Malcolm’s life forever, Paislie is the girl that every girls wants to be for her man. She changes Malcolm for the better and reading this book as their story unfolded was one of the best experiences I’ve had when reading. I immediately loved this girl and what she brought to this story.
As always Elliott gives us loveable secondary characters that you want to hear more about. We can only “Pray” for more from Sister Elizabeth, Father Tim and even a new generation of racers.
Elliott has left me again with that warm and cozy feeling deep in my heart. It is one of the many reasons I keep coming back for more of her wonderful stories.
