Pet-Tabs Plus for Dogs, 365 Tablets
After reading all these reviews I want to say that I have been using Pet Tab Plus for my dogs for years.... I just looked at my old jar which states "made in the USA" and my new jar, which states "made in India" and I'm thinking I'll never use them again. Whoever thinks there isn't a difference between manufacture in the USA and in India or China should think again. Cleanliness alone should make you distrust any food product made for humans, let alone for pets, not to mention the problems people have had feeding their pets food made in China laced with chemicals. The point that companies use to explain why they move their manufacturing is the cost is cheaper. Well think about that. The cost is cheaper because there are no regulations for one, and the way they treat people in those countries should shame anyone. With no regulations I don't know how any company can claim their product for consumption is the same as it was when it was made here in the USA. Just watching TV shows when people are in India, should make you think twice before feeding anything from that country to your pet. This is just my opinion. I won't be using Pet Tabs any longer after all these years and I sent a letter to the company complaining about the change and why. I'm not a complainer, this is the first time I've posted anything and I've used Amazon since they were just a little bookstore online. I just think of my dogs as my kids, and I can't in my right mind give them something I don't trust to be safe. To me it's just a matter of time before some scandal of pet tabs poisoning people's pets shows up.

My lab-mix used to have a wonderful thick coat. She's somewhat allergic, so she's on a hypoallergenic food and I used to give her 3V Skin Caps with Fish oil, vitamin A, E and D. When 3V discontinued the Skin Caps, I switched her to another brand that was recommended as an equivalent. In no time at all she started to develop dry patches on her sides which quickly went bald. I investigated the guaranteed analysis of the "new" skin caps and realized they didn't have the same dosage of specific vitamins that the old ones had. I researched Pet-Tabs Plus for Dogs and realized that it would easily deliver the deficiency of vitamins she was missing, and then some! She's been on them for about a month and at first I was afraid to believe it, but the hair is finally growing back! I highly recommend this product if your dog has any skin issues. It works!

I have a paid subscription to ConsumerLabs. They do independent testing on vitamins and suppliments. I was looking up adult vitamins but they also did testing on dog ones. I purchase Canine Plus. I have never purchased the product pictured but saw it failed the consumer lab report. I thought I should post something so people don't purchase it since it could be dangerous. Here is the line from the report:

Pet-Tabs Complete Daily Vitamin-Mineral Supplement for Dogs
(Puppies and dogs under 10 lbs. - 1/2 tablet daily. Dogs over 10 lbs. - 1 tablet daily Dist. by Virback AH, Inc. NOT APPROVED Found 167.0% of claimed minimum amount of vitamin A7
Found 7.45 mcg lead per tablet (3.73 to 7.45 mcg of lead per daily serving

Lead contamination
None of the supplements for human consumption had lead in excess of the stringent limit used by ConsumerLab.com. However, a pet product, Pet-Tabs Complete Daily Vitamin-Mineral Supplement for Dogs contained 7.45 mcg of lead per tablet; by comparison the FDA notes that children should not be exposed to more than 6 mcg of lead per day. As noted above, this product also contained more vitamin A than listed. ConsumerLab.com has reported elevated levels of lead in this product in the past an amount that has been increasing with each review. In 2009, we found Pet-Tabs Complete Daily for Dogs to contain 6.45 mcg of lead per tablet and, in 2007, we found 1.41 mcg. California typically requires warning labels on supplements for human use that contain over 0.5 mcg of lead per day.

I have written about this product before back when there was a lot of controversy about the ingredients in the tablets and whether they were safe for dogs. I have never had an issue with this product but I also make sure that the product I buy is made here in the USA. I, like many people are worried about giving my dog products from China and other countries due to all the recalls and harm that has been done to dogs and cats. I purchased this Advanced Formula because the price was good at Amazon and also because I feed my dog homemade dog food and I worry that she does not get all the vitamins and minerals that she needs. This product takes care of that, she loves the tablets and in fact, she will come up and beg for the tablet each night. Her bottle sits on the coffee table, she knows where it is, and she comes up and puts her paws on the table and barks and looks at me. So, this is a reliable product and I would highly recommend it. In addition, this product was vet recommended to me several years ago and is still sold by my vet.
