I am a network engineer, so at first glance you might wonder why would a network engineer purchase a Python
book that has Python for Biologists as its focus. Well, technique transcends all else, and the author does a *great* job
on the topics covered in this book. The entire book, as I like to say, was "Money!". Chapter 2, 3, 4 and 7 particularly struck a cord,
but the entire book is simply well done. Oh, and I downloaded the the code samples from the authors web site, and I'll be damned if every single one I have run (in PyCharm) didn't work perfectly. This book is just straight up excellent. I admit I had trouble with the biological syntax (at first), but
technique is technique, and I have been able to apply some of the authors techniques\teachings in my own network engineering oriented code.

Exceedingly clear and rife with examples. The author talks about a rather dull subject (let's face it--learning programming for the first or even the second time can be quite tedious) in a clear and informative manner.

I was introduced to the work of Dr. Martin while using his book Python for Biologists
Python for Biologists: A complete programming course for beginners
in my pursuit of learning to code. My purpose is to be able to interpret genetic data with Python. I was able to move through the first book at an accelerated pace but I had to slow down while progressing through Advanced Python for Biologists. The topics are covered in depth (which is a great thing) and I think I dont have an affinity to learn coding (so I have to try hard). Dr. Martin teaches about Classes, recursion, functional and object oriented python, and most especially about handling errors. One of the sections of the book that I enjoyed most was the one on iterators, generators, and comprehension. I like the idea of condensing code - turning longer 'for' loops into single lines of code.
One of the strongest points: all of the code examples in the book are biologically oriented (dealing with sequences and genomic data) so this is very very practical if you are at the crossroad of programming and biology.

i recognized I had to slow things a bit down to understand classes and how callin the self
works. one of the concepts that I understood best was list comprehension because
dr martine did an excellent job describing it and providing proof of concepts. I may
also have understand this better because of crossing over it in a few other books that
Im reading on python.

Tolles Buch!

Klare Kaufempfehlung!
