I have a couple of reservations though that are reflected in the score. The edges of the map board are not bound or sealed in any way and the laminated together cardboard and paper seem susceptible to peeling apart. This item comes shrink-wrapped in a paper cover (a cardboard sleeve would have been better) so it is already prone to damage from drops. Amazon shipped it in a padded envelope. Mine came with slightly deformed and dinged corners, which I think will make the top layer peeling issue worse before long. I can't decide whether I will send it back because with this method of shipping I feel like there is a great risk that the replacement could arrive in worse shape.
Hard to recommend this over the pathfinder flip mats, though I do like how this is thicker than the vinyl mats, but then I wonder how durable this is compared to those. And, I got the multi pack for $20 with 4 sides, which are also 50% larger in area.
If you just want a simple mat, and you find it cheap, and you don't have anything else to use, then go for it.
