Another interesting feature of this game is the two perspectives- overworld and platforming/battle stages. This is why I compare it to Zelda 2, as it is obvious that the developers took inspiration from that game. The music is fantastic, especially the title theme and (spoiler alert) the Marceline boss battle song, and the graphics and frame rate are vibrant and smooth.
However, it is not perfect. The game can feel monotonous when passing from area to area via side-scrolling transition stages. This is especially true during a collecting quest during the second quarter of the game. However, once you get a boat, passing from area to area is easier. Another problem is that the story is not especially deep and is incomprehensible to non-fans of Adventure Time. I am a teenaged guy (using parent's Amazon account) Adventure Time junkie, so this was not a problem for me. The difficulty level fluctuates, especially during the final boss battle, when the game goes from mildly challenging to infuriatingly, ridiculously hard. It offers a nice feeling of accomplishment, but in the second quest (another nod to the Legend of Zelda), where you replay the game but all enemies have double life, it is virtually impossible.
All in all, this was a great game, but not one for Adventure Time newbies or easily-frustrated gamers. I definitely recommend it.
I was attracted to this game because of the demo I downloaded on the Nintendo 3DS e-shop. It reminded me of a cross between Zelda 2 and the old Dragon Warrior games on the NES. It has the top-down view when traveling between lands, with random battles popping up while walking. Then, it switches to a side-scroller when going through towns or dungeons.
The art is quite cute, and the graphics are done nicely; resembling the cartoon. There is decent humor that is on par with the show as well.
The 3D is done quite well also.
I enjoyed the game, however I found it to be quite easy...resulting in the 4 star rating. There is not a lot of difficulty, but this is most likely geared toward someone much younger than me. The biggest challenge comes from trying to figure out where to go to next, with back-tracking taking up a considerable amount of time. Although I found the revisiting of areas somewhat annoying, it helped make the game last longer.
I really liked the music used throughout, especially in the "haunted woods" levels. I also liked the variety of settings each stage takes place in. The characters you interact with are both funny and cute.
I would recommend this as a light-hearted game that anyone could pick up and enjoy, especially if you like the old adventure games like Zelda and Actraiser. It seems to be made for younger gamers, due to the difficulty level, but it shouldn't distract anyone from giving it a try!
I managed to beat the game in just over four hours, and while the game itself was plenty fun much of those four hours were spent redoing the same levels over and over again. This is a necessary component of the game - as between levels you're exploring an overworld map, and the actual platforming elements take place when you enter locations on that map. The gameplay is actually very similar to Zelda 2 in that regard, except it's much more fun. Instead of having discrete levels, NPCs in various towns ask you to track down items for them - the entire game is basically a series of fetch quests. Going back to the same areas over and over again requires you to replay these levels, which only serves to pad the time on an already extremely short game. Sometimes it's not clear where to go to get the next item - for example, one character asks you to fetch an item in a "forest" northeast of the Candy Kingdom, but the actual location is represented by some dungeon stairs going down. Kids who either can't read or have poor reading skills would be very frustrated by this game, but with a parent nearby this might actually be a worthwhile way to get them to care about reading.
The dialogue is top-notch and reads like a script from the show. The characters all speak as though they were ripped right out of an episode of Adventure Time, and I found myself laughing out loud at some of the exchanges. The problem is that there is no real voice acting - what little VA there is sounds like it was taken from existing recordings, simply various character's grunts, laughs, and catchphrases. Considering how short the game, it's absolutely baffling that they didn't decide to include full voice acting for this game. I'd have increased this review one star for that alone!
Honestly, I don't think I would recommend this game at all if not for the fact that it's a good representation of Adventure Time. I think for diehard fans of the series this is a good way to kill a couple hours, but otherwise the game itself is pretty mediocre.

el juego esta solo en ingles por cierto, aun asi muy pero muy recomendable, ademas de una duracion aceptable y buena rejugabilidad.
Gameplay is fun , controls are good, difficulty is at a fun medium for children and adults, very Zelda 2 like ,
Cons, for the price it is a little short, I beat it on one charge of my 3ds xl, final bosses diffuculty is not in scale with the difficulty anywere else in game so children will need help if tgere young enough
Verdict worth the pick up if in sale like I got it , I give 3.5/5
