Editorial Reviews

Review

Children love comics and this is the best way to make them understand a complex topic in a fun and interesting way. The book will take readers from China to Tibet to Bangladesh and into India, and show how every place, every society, and every living creature is affected by climate change. This three-part series is good to gift children and have in school libraries because of the awareness it gives to children about the world so that they can make changes and create a better place for everyone to live.
Mamta Madhavan, Readers' Favorite
The importance of conveying the climate change message to as wide a range of audiences as possible is more apparent now than ever before. This comic provides an excellent example of how this can be achieved. Climate change is everyone's problem, yet it impacts people and wildlife in different ways. Often the most vulnerable in society, who contributed to the problem the least, are impacted the most. Polo's story provides a powerful social commentary. In the end, the reader is left with sense of hope, of not giving up, and, that if we work together, the solutions to climate change are many and in everybody's hands.
Associate Professor Dr. Ashton J. Berry
Global Climate Change Programme Coordinator, BirdLife International

Polo is rational and human, which makes sense, as global warming is about us. In essence Captain Polo is the story about us and our future on Earth, presented in a knowledge-based and adventurous way, which can spark much needed conversations and action to save, not the polar bears, but Humanity.
Prof. Johan Rockström
Director, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research

In an accessible comic book travelogue, Polo the Polar Bear teaches kids and adults how climate change will affect them, and what needs to change to prevent the worst.
Dr. Keith Alger
Specialist at the Green Climate Fund

[...] Captain Polo takes us with him on his adventure, opens our eyes and, despite the enormity of the problems, with warmth and wit shows us that "we are all connected...all part of the same planet" and that, if we each take action wherever we live, there may yet be hope.
Pippa Heylings
Chair, Climate Change and Environment Committee, South Cambs District Council

[...] In the Adventures of Polo the Bear Hesse explores, in classic comic-book style, the environmental and human dimension of climate change. The publication is both engaging and informative - an educational resource for young and old alike. Congratulations.
Paul Butler, Conservationist
