A wonderful story that the children love. Beautiful artwork, a fun and exciting adventure for children, very interesting facts at the end to round off a great read. Everything the children needed. Happy to recommend this one. I accepted an early release copy this book without obligation.

One of the things I loved about this book was how great the illustrations were colorful, expressive and very well done. I also like how the story lets children deal with aspects of life that may confront them that are less than perfect. And how to do that and end up seeing it as an adventure where they become stronger, happier people and have fun along the way.
Goodreads.com : 4 Stars
The Adventures of Emanuel is a fun, creative story that parents will enjoy reading to their children at bedtime. The pictures are stunning, the story is delightful, and the facts at the end of the story are interesting to keep both parents and children engaged.

Emanuel is the protagonist who begins the story thinking there's a monster outside his window. But in the midst of his fear, he also is sad because his father passed away from a plane crash in the ocean. But the book does a neat job of mixing the sadness of life events (the villain of the story is a shark that's angry because humans took his wife's fins) and mixing them with the imagination of a child trying to escape the sadness.
I like the pictures in the book. I wish I could draw and the inclusion of Asian elements.
I enjoyed the references at the end of the story which made me want to go these places mentioned in the book. All in all a nice story to read for your children.
Though a short read the Adventures of Emanuel tells a story of loss and bravery. It shows that even though you are afraid you can still be brave. It also covers some additional issues that many people are unaware of such as shark finning. The fun facts at the end was a great touch so the reader can have a better understanding of the issues addressed. Lastly, the illustrations were detailed, bright and colorful enough to keep any child interest.
Overall I think this would be an interesting read for small children and I'm certain it would elicit many questions from any child.
The book explores overcoming fear and loss, and the harm done by humans to animals in a sensitive way. It would make an excellent Christmas gift for a young child.
With illustrated books, it can be hard to find your plot, hone in on it, and not bounce around from idea to idea, ultimately making the book confusing.
What the author has done with The Adventures of Emmanuel is beyond belief, a story that anyone can find joy in reading.
I loved the illustrations and the message behind the story. A little less than half of the book is filled with interesting facts about all the sea creatures listed in the book, some that I didn't know existed.
If you have a young child interested in the ocean then this is the perfect book. Children who enjoy learning about different animals in a story will also enjoy it
