The Greatest Band That Never Was

Sure. They are still going and producing some of the greatest material in pop music. But this lineup, the vitality of all three brothers was unlike anything I’d ever experienced, especially live. This is maybe the greatest record ever made ! Sure it’s a mishmash of songs but some of their best songs are in this record and when the band was in its most vital period. Frankie’s Gun is a filthy radio single with great storytelling, The Devil is Real is mesmerizing. Tom Waits might be the only one that could write songs like Trouble Been Hard and Doris Day. The Devil is Real is transcendentalism in a Camaro, the stage rocking Glory Glory and Whiskey in My Whiskey are here as well. It’s got something for everyone and it’s got everything for a Felice Brothers fan. And i am grateful that a tiny independent radio station let some kid play this record and i heard. For those who never got a chance to buy this record it’s sad. The greatest band that never was.
