About the Author
With notable family roots and history dating back to early Old Virginia, Kentucky, and earliest Missouri territory with a touch of Cherokee, he has been described as an offbeat mix of Mr. Rogers, Andy Griffith, Jeremiah Johnson and Sitting Bull, with a little Crazy Horse thrown in for good measure.

Meet Little Red Bear in the Ozarks Mountain Country as he befriends many lovable characters. You will enjoy this relaxing story that is filled educational information as you maneuver your way through the great outdoors. I laughed out loud when I met the personalities in this tale.
I highly recommend this story for all readers, but especially, for a fun read a loud for families and classrooms. This book will open up many discussions of nature, facts, and feelings of compassion for others.
Great story Mr. Milson! Keep your stories coming!
We were laughing at the pig and how the bears couldn't understand him, yet everyone else could. It was funny how my kids wanted me to translate what the pig was saying since he spoke Pig Latin of course! It sure was interesting!
We are wondering what happened to the little pig, since we did not see him mentioned in the other book we read by the author. Howdy also was not in the second book, so we were wondering what happened to the little owl. We hope there are many more books to come about Little Red Bear. The author sure has a great story telling gift!
We would recommend this book for all ages, although younger children may get a little restless listening to the long chapters in the book. There are little diamonds in the chapters to suggest a resting period in the story to come back to read at a later time, since Little Red Bear seems to get long winded sometimes. I didn't mind, I loved the natural storytelling tone of the book.
5 stars all the way from my daughters and me!
We received this book as a gift and we wanted to leave our review for this wonderful story and encourage others to read it!

This is one of those children's stories that could become a classic. Imagine all your childhood favourites, Winnie the Pooh, Wind in the Willows and the Beatrix Potter books, mix them together add a liberal dose of humour and a sprinkling of Ozarks Mountain Country magic, and you have The Adventures of Little Red Bear. I downloaded the Kindle version but after reading the first couple of stories, I ordered the book. Ebooks are convenient, but I can see myself wanting a real copy to read to my grandchildren when my little ones are all grown up.
These heartwarming stories feature a variety of colourful characters but Little Red Bear is most definitely the star - I'm sure he'll agree. Through his tales he teaches about the importance of friendship and being kind to others. Following Red on his adventures you also get an insight into the nature and wildlife of Ozarks Mountain country; a magical mixture of family-friendly, educational fun and adventure. Red is definitely a great role model and teacher, but if he asks you to help him retrieve some honey, best to politely decline and retreat to a safe distance.
I believe this is just the first book of Red's stories; I will be watching out for the sequel and any other books by James Milson.
Well written giving a sense of excitement to the adventures and a real empathy for the characters.
These are fun stories and the authors sense of humour comes through throughout the book.
