Satire at its finest, Mr. Johnson takes on the topic of the demise of the indie world. Through the battle between "superhero" Cockslappicus and the villain responsible for staining indie publishing, we've got a laugh-out-loud, I-almost-peed-my-pants allegory. But fear not, there is a happy ending of sorts, MJ-style of course.
This may get lost on the average reader who isn't at the epicenter of indie writing, but for this indie author, the comic-like hyperbole hit close to home. Any time a writer can weave in the word codpiece and have a battle between punctuation--"The commas were led by the one semi-colon who stood in the front of a very organized triangle of rogue commas...'We've been waiting for revenge,' said the semicolon ,who appeared to be winking as he spoke"--I'm in! And laughing, I mean REALLY laughing, hard, at times.
My slight criticism is that the beginning doesn't fit the style of the rest of the story, in that it felt like an expository piece scaffolding fiction, making the meat of the story a bit too short. But once the adventure of Mr. Whiteprick and Cockslappicus begins, the tale has spunk, heart, and the ridiculous shenanigans we have come to expect from Moctezuma Johnson.
I Don't want to give away too much but know that it will leave a lot off readers in shock.
I really had a good laugh while reading the book and highly recommend it to everyone!!!!!
Wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
