While no expert, I thought I knew a thing or two about online marketing. This book showed me that a thing or two was pretty much all I knew. I am so impressed! The subtitle states this is a "Beginner's Guide to Online Promotion". I will agree that the first 15% is a "beginner's guide". After that, this author takes online advertising education to a whole new level. This is a great book for beginners and experienced marketers alike.

After the Introduction, the author delves into the many types of online advertising in a way that is well-rounded, interesting, not-too-little, and not-too-much. She provides information about targeting advertising to the right market; metrics; AdWords; social media advertising on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn; and then discusses affiliate marketing.

I have purchased several books on AdWords that I just couldn't get through. I've spent time on the phone with an AdWords rep trying to get my head around sitelink extension and display network options for my clients. This author presented the information in sizable chunks that made it understandable, helpful, easy, and doable.

Similarly, the sections on social media are presented in solid, well-organized, sizable chunks that make incorporating and using the information much more easy than other sources I've read. Affiliate marketing is the topic I knew the most about in this book, and still, I learned quite a bit about options I've not pursued or thought about and more about how to improve both my own and my clients' websites.

I've not read Gabriela Taylor before, and I will quickly be reading more of her books. I highly recommend this book to both beginners and seasoned marketers.

Wish that it would be kindle--but also able to down load as pdf. to carry ar​ound--to make notations on the side.

This book, although s bit dated, gives a good primer on the digital ad landscape. The author writes a bit dryly, but is clear and concise. The topics are presented well and In a logical way.

There aren't many good booksinn the market about the entire digital ad landscape. This is a good introduction if you're new to the topic.

Advertising in a Digital Age is a very informative book written by Gabriella Taylor. This book gives a great overview of how online marketing has changed over the years. Not only does it give a great little history of online marketing but it also gives some of the latest techniques. This book is great for novices and pros alike as there a little of something for everyone. It also gives a great breakdown of targeted marketing and how it can be used effectively.

As small business owner we are trying to maintain and grow our online presence, with the hopes of creating a larger customer base over time. We have tried several methods but really had no success with anything we tried.

Gabriela provides the details and explains everything very clear in this book. The first section she covers the intro/history of online marketing and how a lot of the online movement got started. Then she jumps into how the many methods of online advertising work, along with SEO and trends in advertising online.

I really liked the section covering all different types of online advertising and the explanation for each made it much easier to implement. The next section goes hand and hand covering the ways to target prospective new customers with your online ads.

One area that needs to be implemented these days is the area of social media and using it to advertise. Gabriela covers these topics thoroughly and shows easy way to get them up and running in no time at all.

Advertising and marketing is changing every day, but one thing for sure is the online and digital advertising is more popular than ever. If you need to develop a plan to advertise online this is the book for you. The book is filled with gems to help begin your new campaign in online advertising. This book is highly recommended to anyone who wants to find the right way to advertise online.

Since I have given a 4-star rating, obviously this book is good. But let me first tell you what else could have been included: Case studies and comparative analysis.

The author does a great job introducing us to the various digital marketing avenues available (Google adwords, Facebook ads, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.). For newbie marketers (like me), this in itself is great information.

Google Adwords platform is covered quite extensively and so is Facebook advertising platform. The best options currently available for online marketing are covered sufficiently and the tools with which you can measure advertising-reach/ROI are also introduced.

But, for a person who is about to start his/her first marketing campaign, it would have been more useful to see which of them works and to what extent. Obviously, this is subjective and may differ based on use-cases, but still the author could have included some case studies of her own and make some comparative analysis on the best platform, in her opinion (and observation). That would have been like icing on the cake! But the cake is fine without icing, anyway :)
