I read slowly at a conversation speed. That way I can feel like God is a companion on this journey I am on. And because I am older (77) I know I am near the finish line of this life. So I am using this book like a conversation I am having with God Himself.
Like this is just a time between He and Myself, to look at the belief systems I have used to get to this point in my life. It is helping me to hone those fine points, and most of all, to quit beating myself up for all the mistakes I have made in life. It has helped me realize that we are here to learn, and yes, we will make mistakes – but that is where the real learning take place. It is only when we realize we have misjudged or hurt another person that we can admit our failings and reconcile ourselves to the failings we have made. And that takes a lot of honesty and personal reconciliation on our part.
And meanwhile we can live with the understanding that we are eternally loved by a Father and Creator who has never given up on us. And no matter how difficult we find our journey – God is always there to lean on, to welcome us home again.
