There's nothing to it. Thoroughly clean out your garden. Wet the sponge, add in 4-5 seeds, pop it in the plastic holder (or the seed starter), and put it in the Aerogarden. Add 2 capfuls of the nutrients to a gallon of water and pour that in. That's it.
I've had great success with both Aerogarden's nutrients, and General Hydroponics Flora Grow, Bloom, Micro Combo Fertilizer set, 1 Quart (Pack of 3). The Aerogarden one is easier. Add two capfuls. That's it. With GH, it's slightly more complicated. Add 1 teaspoon of Micro to your gallon. Add a little water and swish and rinse the measuring cup. IF your plants are past the 2 week point, then add 1 teaspoon of Grow. Add a little water and swish and rinse the measuring cup. IF your plants are also flowering plants, then add 1 teaspoon of bloom and finish filling the gallon.
I've got 6 gardens in my pantry and they're all about 8-9 years old. The pumps died on 4 of them last year. I was thrilled to find out that I didn't have to buy all new gardens, but just added cheap aquarium pumps in one hole in each of the gardens. It was like $30 for all 4. Niiiiice.
This was what I thought was the best deal for replacing pods. The starter system plugs work just fine in the baskets of the regular gardens and have had no trouble with them. Will buy again.
