This book was a long ass pity party for Holly. I could not stand her character and actually had to stop reading several times, because I was so tired of reading the same thing, her in some pathetic depressed mode. I understand it being hard to lose a child, but most of the book is the same thing, her feelings.... her pity party of herself and what she is going through, how she can't get out of her funk. That was the story. Then the secret comes out, Sy is angry, they make up, talk more of her feelings and pity party, blah, blah, blah, I got to about 73% and gave up, I didn't even care what happened to them, I'd be happy if Holly just drove herself off a cliff. There was absolutely nothing that drew me in to her character in the story. I loved Sy, his past story, and I felt his betrayal of the secret Holly kept from him, but a day later, he forgives her, and then she's sobbing again about how sorry she is, but she lost a child.... I probably won't be reading anymore in this series.

I was very impressed with Incandescent so I jumped right in to Affliction. I was excited for Sy and Holly's story. Especially after that ending in Incandescent I was eager to find out how Sy and Holly were going to get past it.

After reading the prologue I was already in tears. Sy's past was so heartbreaking.

Unfortunately, the flashbacks into Sy's past were the only interesting moments in this book. It took forever for Sy and Holly to find out each other's secrets.

Most of the book is Sy chasing Holly, trying to make her give him a chance, trying to make her live life again. To be honest, it was exhausting. I was getting bored and frustrated waiting for something to happen.

The flashbacks were amazing but overall I was disappointed. Jesse's story is next. I thought he was a trip so I'll be reading.

I loved the first book better. This was a nice addition but just could not warm up to the hero. He was so cold all the time to h. I thought his character would get better once he accepted that he loved her but he did not. He was just unpersonable and no redeemable. It wont keep me from reading the next book in the series. Writer is very good and this "world" is interesting.

A cranky, broody, holy-jesus-he’s-hot biker. A fireball of a woman with enough sass to try the patience of a saint. When these two worlds collide - the explosion of chemistry will knock you senseless and leave you desperate for more. If you love a dominating, over-bearing alpha - well, listen up ladies, as I definitely have just the man for you. And that man, is Sylas Dean. Sy’s story is one that has embedded itself in my soul, the demons he fights throughout this book will not only have your heart breaking for him, but you will find yourself standing on the sidelines cheering for him and his own happy ending. We meet Sy in Incandescent, the first book in the Knights Rebels MC series - he was a man of few words then, and not much changes for the first part of Affliction. When Holly, Kadence’s firecracker best friend, barrels head first into his world, she sends him spinning on his axis - a distraction he isn’t looking for and damn sure isn’t interested in. What gripped me from the very beginning with this book is the emotional connection I felt for the characters. Making that connection in the very first few pages is what kept me completely engrossed until the very end.

"When the woman you love betrays you, leaving you broken and mourning the loss of a child who was never yours, it changes a man."

Sy has lived through, and survived hell. While the first book in this series hinted at the darkness he was hiding, we never truly got a glimpse of the man he really is. In Affliction, we are introduced to all sides of him - his loyalty to his brothers of the Knights Rebels MC, his controlling and hotter than anything demanding tendencies and his fierce capacity to love.

To start the first book was great as a matter of fact read it twice. This one was not so great. Loved Sy. What made him the way he is I can so understand. I cried a lot with his back story. Now about Holly oh my gosh someone should have kicked her a$$. For me she was a horrible person and it took away from the book. It took me days to read this book because Holly was a selfish brat. Saying all that can't wait for the next book. I do love Ms.Savage writing.

Incandescent was a 5 star book for me and when we met Holly and Sy in that first book, I became instantly intrigued as to what their story was all about.
Affliction gives you all the scoop and more, as we discover why Sy is so closed up, shut down and appearing to be cold and mean on the outside...and what really happened between him and Holly.
When he and Holly get together, and Holly has to deal with the tragedy of her own loss after she and Kadence were kidnapped and injured, things get really real and through it all we see two people suffering with personal tragedy and nightmares.
I mostly really liked this sequel with the exception of a few issues that bothered me (no condoms and bad reactions to a woman's personal tragedy) but for the rest of the story, I was happy to see the BFF's get their HEAs and some bad guys get their punishment.
Looking forward to Jesse's book next.
