Wendy Ferraro has created another masterpiece within the pages of Afraid to Fall. It is a beautiful and sometimes painful journey of finding your way to the edge and wondering when you get there are you gonna be Afraid to Fall. This book takes you through every emotion possible. There are times you will fall head over heels in love with Gage Dennison and moments when you WANT TO CHOKE HIM thats what makes this book so amazing. My heart ached and broke for this shattered man. Watching him find his way was such a beautiful experience. There is a point in this book that completely broke me you could feel the pain coming off pages. It was so raw to see a man at his lowest point and then find his saving grace was truly beautiful.
I can't wait form the next book in this series. Wendy Ferraro never disappoints me she an auto buy author for me.
Gage is the small town sheriff who is beyond jaded as a result of his first marriage. I can't really say that I blamed him for the way he acted based on the information that is provided about what happened in the past. I think that if he had acted any other way it would have been unbelievable.
Delaney is a city girl who moves to a cabin that her aunt left her with her infant son. She is determined that she doesn't need to count on anyone because the person she should have been able to count on deceived her and let her down. She is resistant to the sheriff but then realizes that he is not so bad. I can't say that I would have been willing to accept everything that Delaney does, but it all worked out in the end.
The two characters certainly don't take the easiest path to a happily ever after, but make their way there. I look forward to seeing them in other books in this series. During the book, we meet the members of Gage's family. I am already looking forward to reading the next book already. I can't seem to get enough of the Dennison family.
Definitely would recommend this book and others by W. Ferraro!
No cliffhanger or unanswered questions. :)
I just finished reading this book. The idea for the story is fairly typical for the genre. I found the writing descriptive and the pace is good. I want to give it a good review based on those 'technical' facts but...
The main male character is awful. I see what the author wanted to do, and where she wanted to go with him in terms of his emotional growth (the character is supposed to be likable, the tortured hero, burned in the past and who learns to love again) but he just comes across as abusive, nasty and he has a horrible, violent temper.
I spent most of the book waiting to see if he came to his senses. It was only at the very end that he does and only because its spelled out to him.
Add to that, the heroine keeps making excuses for him (I was expecting her to be a bit stronger and to have a bit more backbone) and the secondary characters, his family, know full well what an jerk he is and never stage an intervention or try to help him in any way.
I dont even want to read the next book in the series. Perhaps I will wait a few months and try another of the authors books.
I'm afraid this story left a rather sour taste in my mouth. And that will reflect in my rating.
This is my new favourite W. Ferraro book!
She has really outdone herself with this one.
The storyline is beautifully written and the characters are strong and we'll developed.
I love Ms Ferraro's female leads they are always tough yet soft.
I can't wait to read more in this *family series*
I really loved this story I am looking forward to come from Clearwater Falls.
