Thankfully after that, After All turns into a really fun, lighthearted romance that kept me smiling all the way through. I knew from reading Before I Ever Met You that Alyssa was a hoot. And Emmitt, well he's an actor and they always get a bad rap don't they? Manwh*re, womanizer, cad, bad boy, whatever the title, Emmitt just can't catch a break.
To "help" his image, Emmitt proposes to Alyssa a fake relationship. But we all know how those propositions go, don't we? Real or fake? The longer you spend with someone and see the real person underneath the public persona, how long can you hold your feelings at bay?
I loved the banter between Emmitt and Alyssa. She gives as good as she gets. Prickly, is what Emmitt calls her, and it fits her. And the hilarious situations she gets into with various wildlife?
The story was funny but it was also romantic and I like how Karina evolved the relationship between these two from a business proposition to an emotional journey that both Emmitt and Alyssa take. Interspersed between the sexy times they have, there's a lot of feelings and thoughts and fears and hopes that they both struggle with. Real or fake? That's the constant question in Alyssa's mind. Can she take that dive off the cliff and take the risk of finding out if what she has with Emmitt is real or will she crash and burn? "Passion, not performance" is Emmitt's moto, but can he convince Alyssa that what he feels is the real deal?
If you're looking for the perfect summer read, this book hits all the feels and will leave you smiling and happy. Another great story from Karina!
Okay. Now that that’s out of my chest, let me proceed to my love for Emmett and Alyssa! I loved the wit, the tension, and the attraction between these two! After All was such a sexy, smart, and delicious read!
From the very first chapter of this book, I was so sure this man would own my heart. And I was definitely right. Behind Emmett’s handsome, cocky, and confident facade was a man filled with experience, insights, and heart.
I loved Alyssa Martin's spunk! She was independent, smart, and driven. There was no question about her will, drive, and heart. But I did love exploring her vulnerable side as well and how Emmett answers it so beautifully.
I really really enjoyed this book! The banters were just my total favorite! Emmett being the cocky beast he was, Alyssa being a sassy woman, and both such quick-witted creatures, I couldn’t help but love every word they say to each other. There’s a constant pull of attraction between the two of them that made every page impossible to leave. Two very distinct people existing in two very different worlds bound by the same passion, love, and drive towards life and each other. They were driven to avoid a Happily-Ever-After but that’s where they were meant to end up at after all.
After All is one of Karina Halle’s highs; a complete package of laughter, wit, romance, and a whole lot of heart.
The story centers around two people. First one Emmett Hill who is this older actor who has this big come back. He is sexy. At first he is this cocky SOB.. But the more you get to know him, the more you peel the layers of his character the more you fall in love with this guy. He is so great and charming and I love how he turned out.
Alyssa Martin is our second person of interest in this story. She is beautiful, prickly, smart and she is sassy. I loved her. She was a bit hard on her self and sometimes I wanted to shake here and give her a pep talk. But I loved that she was created with flaws.
Emmett and Alyssa meeting was pretty conventional, their start to their relationship was not, Watching them build something from almost a hate - love relationship was beautiful and swoon worth. There up and downs will pull at your heart. But believe me when I say the ending will knock your socks of. LOVE it. One of my favorite book endings EVER!
This one is definitely a #MustRead
