While debating whether to purchase this book, I read the reviews and thought...these people must be too sensitive to raw depictions of modern relationships. I’ll give it a try. Well, I hate to admit they may be correct. This is neither romantic nor entertaining. I kept waiting for the characters to display any redeeming qualities that would make me root for their success. What I found was a sad, self-centered story about what I can only describe as an abusive relationship. I am neither naive to the struggles of relationships nor jaded enough to think all relationships are doomed to failure. If this is what the author finds to be exciting or desirable, I feel sorry for her.

I started reading this and couldn't finish it. The relationship portrayed was abusive, and the story pointless. Sex, fight, sex, fight... The heroine was spineless, and he was a cad and overall a***ole. And the writing was sophomoric, if not childish. It was just strung together with no plan where it would go to next, except for another cycle of sex, fight. I'm amazed that so many readers, presumably overwhelmingly women, find this drivel so attractive?

This book has abuse apologist themes and the target audience are young girls, who will more than likely be swayed by this and come to believe that this behavior is acceptable. The victim ends up with her abuser, with all sins forgiven with no character development on the male’s part. The fact that an abuser is seen as the hero, and knight and shiny armor after Hardin stalks Tessa, mentally abuses her, and pushes her into sex, and more, is not something I can support. Not to mention, the writing is complete rubbish and this girl literally plagiarized Bronte and Hemingway quotes, word for word. This girl forgives her abuser time and time again despite his flaw, and some naive teenage girl is gonna read this and think it's okay, because that is what this shoddy series promotes at the end of the day. Don't waste your time. Just another trashy book in which abuse and is glorified and given the veil of, "no relationship is perfect!!!!" Gross. Massively disappointed.

This book definitely depicts an abusive, unhealthy relationship. Even though the writing is in first person (with switching POV which is done in an awkward manner), it's hard to have any empathy for either of the main characters. The male character is volatile and extremely immature. She is not only naive but also lacks moral compass. In addition, the writing is a joke. The "romantic scenes" are not romantic, hot, or well-written. This book makes fanfiction look bad. Would not recommend anyone to pay actual money for this.

If I see one more series that promotes a terrible excuse for a relationship I'm going to explode. Is this really what passes for modern literature, and worse, for romance? What happened to having a caring, non-abusive man for a love interest? Or a woman who's not a spineless cardboard cutout for a lead?

Get this through your heads, people: no one should want a relationship like this! This isn't romantic, it's romanticized abuse. Anyone who believes otherwise is spitting in the faces of those who live in these kinds of relationships.

This is one of those "I wish I could give zero stars" type reviews. This is a terrible book. It romanticizes abuse and not in any sort of fetish type way. There is really no excuse for it at all. This is straight up abuse and the target audience is impressionable teens and young adults. This author is disgusting. The entire book is back and forth. Sex, abuse, sex, abuse. Oh except it's not actual sex. Oral and handys. I recently read that that's apparently gateway sex... Why? It's all the same, except one can get your pregnant. I don't even understand why teens think this is somehow different then actual sex. It's all the same intact hymen or not guys! Virginity is a load there are no loopholes! Do it or don't.
Tessa keeps going back to him after he publicly shamed her telling her she can't take a hint, he calls her pathetic, he is horrible. Probably undiagnosed bipolar with a narcissistic personality disorder. And she just takes it! At one point she even tells him that he makes her cry more than anyone has ever made her cry. THEN WHY DO YOU STAY!? This is not okay! This is not healthy! I am so close to the end of this book and am stopping. I came to see what the reviews were like on this book and discovered it's a whole freaking series!!! And the other books look to be more of the same! The second book lets you read the first chapter and what I read just baffles me. They took what I already thought was the worst thing ever and then added another terrible She's All That,10 Things I Hate About You, twist! I don't even understand how the author thinks this makes a good series unless she ends up killing Tessa off and it ends up being a life lesson. Don't make bad decisions kids, like reading this book. That would be a bad decision.

A coworker talked me into reading this series. Relatively mindless reading, but enjoyable enough. Sort of reminds me of Twilight or Fifty Shades, if you are into that kind of teenage angst love story thing.
