Welcome to Hyacinth Manor, where reservations are by invitation only. After giving into a round of depression and slight mental lapse, LaVonda is sent to a mental facility to deal with her depression. She knows all too well what to do to appease people so she released and returns home. One night after, she's ready to leave. With no destination in mind, she winds up at Hyacinth Manor.
Upon her arrival at Hyacinth Manor, the owner/clerk takes one look at her and knows exactly where she belongs, Room Ten. Believing in the power of love and healing, Ms. Rosa sees that LaVonda is in need of both.
This was another great read by this author. I've read a few of her books and she never ceases to fail me. She takes a tough issue and tackles it head on. On another note, I thought I'd previously left this review until I got a notification to review the book from Amazon, lol.
Quick question has life ever taken a turn that made you pause and then want a redo?
LaVonda story opens with her laying face down on her lawn which had me laughing out loud. Actually there are several laugh out loud moments that won't disappoint.
But the title isn't as comedic as it is heart wrenching. those comedy moment are a wonderful break from all the emotions that take place throughout the story.
Ms. Thompson captured Von's depression so completely until you could feel her falling into darkness and it made you want to rescue her. I was able to understand the decisions Von made and her need to escape. And I love how strong August was, even though he had been through a lot and was still struggling, he was strong. He knew that God could put broken pieces back together. This man's willingness to stay true to God was beautiful. This is a superb story and now I need to read book 2.
This book is also part of a series too. Evetta lost her husband, almost her mind, but found the inner strength to love again. I enjoyed the story line, however the chapters seemed rushed. Evetta fell in love with a man name August while trying to escape depression, her sister, and where she once called home.
From reading and understanding, Evetta didn't seem like a very strong character and I didn't feel a strong connection with her. I didn't feel like I should feel sorry for her at all.
Depression is deadly. Evetta couldn't seem to stop feeling sorry for herself, until she found love and the truth about her sister. I wished the characters were more developed, so we could have a better mental image of her sister. The title in a way did not match the story line well either.
In conclusion, I will be reading more from this author and from the series. If you are looking for a quick and good read, I truly would recommend this book to any one over the age of 18. - Via GoodReads
Adrienne Thompson, you have done it again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ all the way!
