This is a freebie extra that caps off the end of the Search and Rescue series and gives an introductory teaser to the first of the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series. I enjoyed how the author divided up the seasons with each former pair of main characters getting their update. Winter has Lou and Callum out on an ice rescue run while Callum figures out how to unfreeze his tongue to pop a question, Ian and Rory fight a fire and then their next fire call leaves Rory gasping with surprise in the Spring, while in the summer, George and Ellie go on a dog-thieving mission before Ellie startles George with some new, and finally the fall brings a near death experience for Chris and Daisy when she proves she can be out in the great big world afterall.
Loved this look-in. It's short. The vignettes only take up a third of the location on my e-reader, but worth snagging for fans of the series. Can't wait to dive into the next series of books set with the K-9 officers of the mountain area.
Basically, I'm in literary heaven.
(Keep this to yourself, but George and Ellie are my favorites. Now and always. George's silences and his reasoning for not engaging in small talk make me smile. And his pure joy whenever he sees Ellie makes me all fluttery. Always.)
LOVE LOVE LOVE and I highly recommend these little snippets if you've read the Search and Rescue series.

This was a very good addition to the Search and Rescue series. It's just 4 short stories that are loosely tied together, 1 story for each of the 4 couples from books 1-4. Nothing major happens in them...they're just little glimpses into the couples' lives so we can see that they're all happy. It's a nice addition for those that have read the series.
note - Amazon and GR both say that this is around 180 pages but it's not really that long. "After the End" actually ends at the 37% mark on my Kindle and the rest is the first 10 chapters of [book:Run to Ground|32331591], the first book in Ruggle's Rocky Mountain K9 Unit series.
It was a fun afternoon read and I can't even begin to pick a favorite because it was so much fun to read about each couple just one more time. Thank you, Ms. Ruggle, for giving me just a little more time with the Search and Rescue couples in Simpson, CO.
