About the Author
Gerri Hill has thirty published works, including the 2014 GCLS winner The Midnight Moon, 2011, 2012 and 2013 winners Devil’s Rock, Hell’s Highway and Snow Falls, and the 2009 GCLS winner Partners, the last book in the popular Hunter Series, as well as the 2013 Lambda finalist At Seventeen. Gerri lives in south-central Texas, only a few hours from the Gulf Coast, a place that has inspired many of her books. With her partner, Diane, they share their life with two Australian Shepherd’s―Casey and Cooper―and a couple of furry felines.

Review
Gerri Hill is simply one of the best romance writers in the genre. This is an archetypal Hill, slightly unusual characters in a slightly unusual setting. The slow burn romance, however, is a classic, trying not to fall in love, but unable to fight the pull.
The characters are endearing and you simply cannot help engage with the older women who have lived on the land for years; when escape from homophobic patriarchal society seemed the best way to be free. Mel and Erin capture your heart from the first moment, however strung out Erin is from caffeine and the consequent crash.
The romance pulls you in, the lack of angst is a refreshing change, and the will she, won’t she climax worth the wait. It’s a slow sensual tug on your heart, reminding us that not everything that glitters is worth the loss of our souls and social/partner expectation can destroy us. I love many of Gerri Hill’s books for many reasons and this one is right up there for me as an exquisitely gentle balm to the heart.―Lesbian Reading Room --This text refers to the paperback edition.

I love these two characters, both finding their way back to being able to love again. The ending felt like the beginning of their story. Please let this be the prequel? Gerri Hill romances always leave me with the warmest warms and fuzziest fuzzies. This one was especially lovely and all the characters were as vivid and dear as I have come to expect. Highly recommended.

After the Summer Rain is a wonderful romance, full of powerful scenes of beauty and love, nature and the yearning for a simpler life. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who would imagine a life without the complications of commerce and society, with a wonderful romance woven in to it.
Gerri Hill has written another beauty of a story, certainly one of her best works.

This story is a turbulent whirlpool of emotion, but it reads like a refreshing easygoing float down the river. The setting is beautiful, the characters lovable, and their journey inspiring. Gerri Hill's writing voice is engaging and beautifully reflective of human nature. I never tire of reading her books.

Another hit. It's always a pleasure to read a book by Gerri Hill. The characters and supporting characters always have depth. I would love a sequel to read more about the ladies now that they have new blood to keep their homesteads up and running.

I’ve enjoyed all of Hill”s books. She brings you into a finely crafted world in each story she tells. This story has all her great qualities, yet I missed some of the deep romance of some of her other stories. Very worth the time to read.

This book had great qualities of good storytelling throughout, from cover to cover. Hill writes of loneliness, friendship, community and love. Her treatment of regret and forgiveness was touching so much so that the reader will find herself cheering for the characters as they create a life of peace in a crazy world the rest of us have come to accept and believe to be normal-except we find in this little book that itt does not have to be. It was a great read.

A gentle romance in a beautiful setting – 5 Stars
Fearing for her mental and physical health, Erin’s sister and father insist she takes a three-month sabbatical from the family firm, and book her into a women-only community in a remote area of New Mexico. For the first few days Erin does little more than sleep and eat, but gradually she takes an interest in her host’s lifestyle and, little-by-little, she finds herself beginning to understand Melanie’s self-imposed isolation.
This is a beautifully paced romance, and one that loses nothing in terms of readability by taking its time. It’s a gentle romance that is both captivating and life-affirming. As Erin and Melanie become more comfortable in each-others company, they are both able to reconcile past hurts, set-aside fears about the future, and simply live in the present moment. As with so many of her books, Gerri Hill utterly succeeds in making the natural environment an integral part of the story; from creeks to natural springs, humming birds to coyotes, it’s easy to understand why Erin and Melanie are enchanted and becalmed by their surroundings.
The key to this story though, is that as idyllic as life becomes for Erin and Melanie, they both know it must end when Erin’s sabbatical is over. I have no intention of spoiling the ending, suffice to say this is a book that makes one take a long look at whether what we strive for day-to-day is truly what we want, or need. I found ‘After the Summer Rain’ captivating as I read, and in my thoughts long after I’d reached the ending.

This is one of the most beautiful love stories I have read in a very long time. Gerri Hill is so talented in her writing. This is another fantastic book, I wanted to finish it so badly to see how it ended, but enjoyed it so much I didn't want it to end. I have read every book by this author, and once again I have not been disappointed. A great book, by the even greater Gerri Hill. A class act. 100% a must read.

What a wonderful story! Set in beautiful scenery with lovely characters, this felt similar to Gerri Hill’s early works in my opinion. Not to be missed!
