Wes is the gasoline to Whitney's fire, and these two are helpless to put out the flames!
Woo! Now that was some emotional mayhem! I loved Wes and Whitney; then I would dislike them, sometimes one more than the other. Oh. My.
This all heart, no holds barred tale shows what happens when two people stop pretending and life gets messy-- I. Loved. Every. Maddening. Sweet. Heart Breaking. Moment. Of. It. I honestly couldn't get enough!
Well written, laced with humor and hints of savagery. ( the pretzels pure savage) True to life characters and a storyline to match this book ticks off the things I look for in a romance novel and then some!
Amelia Wilde rolled out the red carpet of feels for us when writing After I Was His!
#OneClick Material Right Here!
I ended up really liking this book. Amelia Wilde has a talent for taking you on a journey. An amazing jouney.
The author makes the storyline and characters so real and relatable. You can’t help but feel these soldiers and the demons that haunt them.
Whitney and Wes’s first encounter is instant spark. They’re total opposites and know they shouldn’t be attracted to each other but the pull they feel can’t be denied.
Unforeseen circumstances lead them to become roommates. Whitney’s flightiness drives Wes nuts and Wes’s need for routine makes Whitney crazy!
Over time, they seem to be less and less on each other’s nerves and more interested in spending time together. However, they each can’t seem to escape their past.
Will Whitney and Wes let their guards down enough to see if they just might stand a chance at happiness?

Wes is a former soldier, silently struggling to forget the horrors he has experienced and filled with guilt. Whitney is an aspiring actress, determined to maintain a positive attitude and to always make the best of what life brings her. Wes loves order, calm and control, Whitney is spontaneous and loud. Can they find enough common ground on which to build a relationship?
I didn't immediately warm to Whitney as a character. However as I got to know her, and more importantly got to know about her, I really fell for her. She is such a strong and determined character and never lets life get her down. Wes broke my heart with his stoicism, even if he was being pig-headed about getting help. This pair perfectly fitted together despite being totally wrong in so many ways. I really believed in them as a couple and thoroughly enjoyed reading their story.
The ending - oh the ending - it just made me melt. Best of all the epilogue wrapped up the story perfectly.
There is a good mix of romance, steam and angst, with some wonderful humour and some contrasting serious moments. Unless you prefer clean/sweet romances then this is a contemporary romance that I am more than happy to recommend.
