The AFTERGLOW AP.1 for the PS3 features L2 and R2 triggers modeled upon PDP’s popular REAL TRIGGERS add-ons for PS3 controllers. It also provides a refined analog stick location similar to the Xbox 360 style analog stick placement for FPS advantage with an ergonomically modeled grip built for comfort and competition. Each AFTERGLOW controller allows the player to adjust the LED settings to: on, off, or vibration (activates when controller rumble motors spin).

questionable build quality, iffy windows compatibility

I bought this controller for the PS3 because I wanted an xbox style controller configuration to use on that system (I find it more ergonomic) but even early on I had trouble with one of the thumb joysticks sticking if I push it in one particular direction. It's a cheap controller option, so I wasn't expecting it to be a dream to use, but the sticking really does seem unacceptable. Also I've tried using it with windows 7 but had to install software and manually map the controls to get it to work (e.g. I found no native support, required a lot of tinkering).

Pros:
The controller is very cheap compared to the standard Sony controller

The chord for the controller is plenty long enough if you play at a reasonable distance away from your console

All of the buttons work, and the vibrate function is also functional

Cons:
The buttons feel light at times when pushing them down, but it does not in any way affect gameplay and it always works

It does not quite have the feel of an Xbox controller because it is a bit smaller, but personally I believe it's more comfortable to use than the standard Sony controller

There is a small ridge on the back handles that can get annoying if you hold the controller a certain way

OVERALL: Very satisfied with this controller, by far the best cheap generic controller out there. I would highly recommend it for anyone who doesn't want to pay for the standard Sony controllers or who wants a reasonably priced Xbox controller layout for ps3.

The cable is pretty long.
The light is not too bright.
I have the controller light set to light up when it vibrates and usually play at night with lights off. Whatever game im playing, if i get hit the controller lights up.
With friends playing PS allstars, with three other similar controllers (though some were wireless, and I have the add on bar to give more USB connections) it was fun seeing the light show as the controllers lit up when their corresponding characters took damage.

The quality of the controller is pretty ok. Not top quality. Had it a few months now and it is still solid. The buttons however, feels like it may go bad after a few months of heavy usage but so far, no problems with me.

I don't like the cord. The d pad and left toggle stick are reversed making actions hard unless practiced. The controller lights up red when i get into vehicles or it will vibrate and light up when im stressed in the game.

it also can stay lit at all time as a feature on the reverse side of the controller. I like it, but i do not love it like a cordless regular ps3 controller.

I've never been a fan of the Dualshock controller. The location of the analog sticks made playing my favorite genre of games, first-person shooters, a bit of a problem. This controller uses the superior Xbox controller layout. Games like Resistance are so much more fun with the Afterglow. The lighting function can be a bit annoying, but it easily turns off with a small switch.

It won't ever take the place of the regular PS3 wireless remote, but my young son loves this controller. It's red, it lights up, it works without issues. I can't ask for much more considering the price. I would only suggest playing with the sensitivity--ours was a bit overly sensitive when we got it. Otherwise, great!
