I enjoyed the first book as well as this one, although I didn't think this 2nd one was all that necessary, I think it was wrapped up great in the first book. I would have preferred this book to be about Kieran and Marie and then I would love to see a book about Tommy and Evelyn. Not sure if anyone else picked up on this but in the first book the character Mac was one the best friends and there was no mention of a Liam but in the 2nd book there was no Mac and a best friend Liam. I am assuming that Mac and Liam are the same character and not sure why the name change from one book to the other. Would have also liked to have seen Liam/Mac come out publicly and although never mentioned I was thinking that his guy is Albie. Would have also preferred an epilogue a few years in the future, perhaps know if they had children, etc., but that is just my preference of an epilogue when they give you the look ahead and not just another chapter that is taking place in the same time frame or just a few months later. Overall, I highly recommend these 2 books and am looking forward to see what is next from this author.

They mixed up the character names a few times even during a critical conversation where they called Em's mom by Con's mother's name. Nothing like having the flow of the story interrupted by typos and other errors an editor should have caught.

The Aftermath (The Hurricane #2) by RJ Prescott
4 stars!!!

“Bruises fade, torn skin scabs and heals but hate festers.”

This book follows on from where the Hurricane left off and while the Hurricane centred around Cormac and Emily’s blossoming relationship this book concentrates more on Cormac and his battles inside and outside the ring.

“…but we had each other. We had the fire and the drive to win, to succeed. I wasn’t alone in his. We were brothers, and we were bringing it to the effing table.”

I loved the dynamic with this series and these Irish guys have really melted a lot of hearts, especially mine. These guys really were a bunch of misfits but together they are family and there is nothing stronger than the bond and allegiance to one another than what they share. For them, they come as a package, you take one on, you take them all on and that is a mighty frightening experience.

“You made me a mixtape. Does that mean we’re going steady?”

I loved that this book gave us more of the guys as a group, how they bantered with one another, the pivotal roles they each played, the loyalty, the admiration and that great sense of camaraderie that only men that knew each other inside out could have. Danny had me in stitches in this book, he may remind me of the old guy in Rocky, but the one liners that come out his mouth were classic and brought some light hearted laughs to my reading experience. Even Father Pat had the same effect, everyone needs a priest like him fighting in their corner.

Starting to read this book The Hurricane came flooding back and in particular just how cute Cormac and Emily were as a couple, in fact these two were cuteness personified.

I loved Hurricane and was excited about The Aftermath, however it felt a bit flat. Quite a bit of repetitive inner dialogue from Con about how lucky he was to have his sunshine, how to treat a woman and the the same antagonist Frank was presented this time with more details about his abuse. It ended conveniently.

The story continued seamlessly. Of course some parts were predictable, but the journey that takes the reader through those parts was very engaging. Plus there were definitely some surprises.
I'd love to see how the story continues, especially for Niki, Liam, Kier, and the rest of the family. And catching up with Con and Em . I really, really hope Con gets his dream of 4 strapping boys, and that Em doesn't kill him for giving her those same 4 boys. Can you imagine 4 little cons running around causing mischief?
There wasn't a cliffhanger (I hate when an author does that without warning), but there is still a lot of story I'd like to see written.
So, tell your friends about this book, spread the word so this talented writer sells more than enough copies to stay home and write full time because I'm impatient, and I hope the series continues (for the record, I have no ties to this author. I just was pleasantly surprised when I read 'The Hurricane', and couldn't wait for the next book. Again, I am impatient:)

I love the Hurricane and Em. It's that opposites attract type of love that just envelops you with hope and makes for an amazing read as they come to the midpoint where things finally fall into place. I couldn't be more happy to get this duet to THE HURRICANE because I loved these characters so much and even though that book ended very well, I not only needed more, but wanted to read more about them and see how they settle in. However, this book does so much more than give us a glimpse about how things work well when they are meant to be. This book is a storm on its own, and oh boy what a ride of suspense, emotions, and swooning moments. I love these characters and think that RJ Prescott is brilliant. I only hope that she gives their amazing friends their own books. What a clan! This is an absolute must read. Especially if you loved THE HURRICANE (book 1).
