On the plus side was the fact that I read the whole story, not something I would have done had it been awful; I don't waste my time any longer. Overall, Chrissy and Jack (great last name) were likeable characters and I was entertained reading about their journey towards HEA.
On the negative side, Ms. Halston repeated things frequently, added tags where none were needed, and used some devices best left out of books, such as characters who talk to themselves...out loud. It's not the worst device to use, but only with a word or short phrase and never with full paragraphs of thought.
Finally, the focus of Chrissy's reluctance to the relationship wasn't even brought up until near the very end of the story. It wasn't enough of a reason for her leaving. Actually, the entire conclusion bordered on the side of over-kill. Big time drama.
If Ms. Halston takes our criticism constructively, then I will look forward to reading more of her work. Othetwise, it's just wasted potential.
I received a copy of Laid out which is the forth in this series but before I could read that I had to start at the beginning of the series. I'm funny like that.
I went into this book not knowing what to expect since I hadn't read any reviews and I was very pleasantly surprised. This book was a very sweet and easy read for me, there were parts that were overly cheesy but I love some cheesy stuff and some good clichés. I've had a few books I haven't enjoyed lately but this one really sucked me in and kept me hooked, I could hardly leave it down.
Jack Daniels what a name, it just screams HOT alpha male!! I loved Jack, The way he was with Chrissy all dominating at times and so sweet at others are some of my favourite traits in a guy.
Chrissy was a great heroine, she kept me giggling most of the way through the book with all her bad luck and how easily she got into trouble, although I shed a few tears for her when she had to tell her story.
Drogo was by far my favourite though, I was in stitches when he was misbehaving and biting people!! I thought it was brilliant the way jack referred to him as 1/4 pitbull.
I really liked the characters in this book, I think they were well written and very likable. The only reason I didn't give this more stars is I felt there was too little romance in the story. other than that I loved it Cant wait to get stuck into the rest!!
He is her brother’s best friend and she has had a crush on him for years. When her father is killed in a car accident our heroine leaves her home in Tarpon Springs and doesn’t look back. After receiving a come bail me out of jail call from her big brother she makes the trip home. Only problem is once she gets there she is pulled over for speeding and guess who the officer is?
One long, fair, well-defined leg in the sexiest red high heels he’d ever seen stepped out of the car. Then, the other. Jesus Christ! Was this the same goofy little Chrissy Martin? Somehow, Jack had transformed into one of those cartoon characters whose eyes popped in and out of its socket. Holy hot legs, Batman!
Jack offers to help Chrissy get Slade out of jail. He tells her that he has a key to Slade’s house and will help her get in to her old home. Chrissy follows Jack home and the chemistry really starts to sizzle between the two of them. There is only one problem a crazy Chihuahua that thinks he is a pit bull.
Will these to be able to forget the past and move toward a future together? Can Chrissy not only cage Jack, but tame his dog?
Hero –Jack Daniels: 5 stars
Heroine –Chrissy Martin: 5 stars
Steam: 5 stars
Plot: 5 stars
Would I recommend this book: Yes! This book has it all, hot doctor, hot police officer-cage fighter, hot sex and a crazy, sadistic Chihuahua! What’s not to love? This book is funny and sexy. It is a book that also gives a look at second chance relationships and I recommend it as a must read!
Would I read other books by this author: Yes! I look forward to reading where this author will take me with her next story.
